Unlocking upgrades that require race class wins?

Anybody have a good method for doing this? I am trying to unlock upgrades only for the sports class and having trouble. I can only find the super class and that is all anybody does. I get one game every 10 tries if I am lucky and after that everybody will either leave or the next race/mission comes up which is never the sport class I am looking for.

 

So I waste a lot of time and am still getting nowhere just trying to find these races. Is there a good method where I can just race sport class game after game and not have to exit back and try finding one?

 

I tried hosting and the same thing happens it's getting kind of frustrating. I end up by myself or on a race that I can't change to sport. Seems like I don't have a choice but to abandon the upgrades or try to find a way to get a super car and unlock those upgrades.....

That looks like the only option my friends are less than interested though... are you on PS3 by chance?

Apparently you need to win both DeathMatches and Races for unlocking some Tattoos and Shirts

When you open matchmaking and click auto-invite and play, won't randoms just start joining anyways?

Start an only invite only game, go to the race at prison, choose one lap for race duration. Takes 30 seconds to complete a lap. Rinse and repeat. Feels a bit cheap, but no one seems interested in doing races online & I really wanted the Los Santos Customs tattoo for my character but he is now missing presumed dead

I would be fine with that except it doesn't unlock anything when you are by yourself. Don't know why it records it as race wins by yourself and doesn't count towards this.

Yes but that only works once and only if I am lucky can I get another race I can change to sport in the vote without starting all over again.

Sorry I was not clear, I meant an invite only game & invite at least one mate who will let you win every time, you can return the favour after if they want. I did it earlier & it works.

sh*t start a game invite me and ill let you win all the Muscle car races you want if you would do the same for me in some sport races. lol I know it's cheap but f*ck there is no other way that isn't impossibly tedious.

Same issue for me on both systems...there should really be an option to search for specific class races. It's bad enough just joining and quitting quick jobs for an hour just to find one race, but then to also not win that race. I'm down to help someone trade wins to get some unlocks as finding sedan races seems nearly impossible. Not how i planned on enjoying races, but sitting around for an hour to "maybe" win a race is just not fun at all.

It got to the point for me that it was becoming tedious looking for the sports car races. If I went and tried to host a race using just sports cars, it would take forever and a day just to get a favorable race setup. I then tried to race myself. Did like 10 races and drove back to the pay n spray to upgrade only to find non of the race wins I did by myself counted. Lol. Oh well.

I thought the same thing and thought i'd never unlock anything. But after a few wins in different car classes i realized, any race you win in any car class unlocks upgrades for every car class!! I have 27 wins and just unlocked the second teir transmissions for my comet which requires 27 wins & gauntlet which requires 26 wins.

If you race any class of car, it should unlock all upgrades for every class. Try it out. So just race supers if that's all you can find. Doesn't make a difference.

Motorcycle races unlock upgrades for every class of vehicle. It was the only way I could unlock super car upgrades because mine was bugged (for whatever reason).

I hate that they tie so many useful upgrades to having to win races. Especially when in most races you can use customs so you have to beat people that already have those upgrades. If nothing else I wish they'd just put it so you have to finish x number of races, would increase participation and be a lot less annoying.

Yea I agree. I kept racing people with tricked out rides. I could never seem to do better than second. Kinda a bummer.

Super unlocks everything. I know that for sure. That's why you always see super races. Also if your playing with randoms be sure to turn of the option that allows for personal vehicles. If your just starting out your never beat a custom super fully upgrades no matter what you did.

Blame rockstar, even though i unlocked some important upgrades still i find it stupid. I need now chrome it's ugly and you need to win 50 times dammit and another one i need.

I did sedan races but it seems to have unlocked upgrades in all classes. Not sure but I think the system only looks at the 1st place win, and not the class

Here's the best way I found to get wins whether I have friends to play with or not:

 

Host the job "Jumps Jumps Jumps" (goto: online-->jobs-->host job-->rockstar verified-->races-->jumps jumps jumps)

-Invite any willing friend to swap wins, the race takes 1:30 +/-

or

-Invite random people (I chose "all from current session" and "all skill matched players") and start the game as soon as one or two people join. Since I was repeating the same race and learned the jumps, I had a slight advantage so I won more races than when I did random races. I usually made a point after winning 2 in a row to let the other person have a win, otherwise they tend to leave at that point. If they do leave, rinse and repeat.

 

 

Obviously you could replace the job with another one but I enjoyed playing this one the most and the jumps in it make the race harder to win unless you know the course. The LS Forums race is good too because it's only a 0:30 race. The wait in between games is the real time waster though and with longer races you get more RP.

Use my drag race to level up race wins and turbo starts, you'll only need one opponent to race with. Disable custom cars if you have no unlocks.

I feel like they changed it after they realized it would be impossible to get say, SUV upgrades, since NOBODY in their right mind would host an SUV match.

 

Hell, Off-road, Motorcycle, Sedan, etc. Never get hosted. It's ALL sports, super, and sports classic now-a-days...

Wish I could get some 4x4 and SUV races, period. Wins would be nice occasionally as well
