Diablo 3 was almost a flawless launch compared to this, if my memory is good everything was 90% fine after 3 days right? Even SimCity was doing good after 5 days, but this my friend, is one of the worst launch of gaming history, glad we have a full single player experience that is worth 60$ at least..

definitely true, i hit the retry button 1 time 2day and it put me straight onto the menu too choose a character but no characters and its gone from social club so definitely do not press that button

 

Yes it most certainly is true....sigh .. exactly what the above post said. However on the social club website it says i have 85,769 in the banks which is what my character had before she went into Cloud Land......i duno

Pressing retry and playing when the servers are down is the cause, not pressing retry. Dumbass.

 

 

I never played while servers were down, just pressed retry button and my characters gone

This is really good to know, I have hit retry a few times and luckily nothing was lost.

This makes sense. I recall pressing retry before my character disappeared. It's obviously pressing retry WHILE something else is happening that creates the perfect storm.

To boil it down, you have to use your head a bit more with this game, it's annoying but you have to. Actually read the text that the screens bring up. If the cloud isn't connected you cannot save. It's like playing a PS2 game without a memory card. There is no where for your character to be saved if there is no cloud. It's as simple as that. People losing characters is not Rockstars fault, it's purely down to people not reading the instruction given. It can take a while to get in with the cloud available, but once you do get in, the game runs as smooth as it can, I promise you that. Given your internet connection is tidy.

 

Same for saving, if you just quit the game straight from online or turn off your console. How do you expect to keep all of the things you have earnt. It wouldn't in single player, why would it online. Just ensure that autosave trigger before you leave. I believe certain aspects of the game trigger this, but it's early days, so it still may not. So before leaving online, switch to single player. This will ensure everything you have just done online is saved.

 

When I got onto the game, I had a blast, it was tons of fun. I lost the first inital 10 grand after the second mission I believe is the Lamar drug mission, but this is a glitch and problem I'm aware they haven't fixed, I was aware before playing this may happen. I robbed a couple of stores and got that money back in half an hour. So it's not too much of a problem, my money worked OK from that point, I didn't lose anything.

 

I reccommend playing solo for the first hour or so (after you've done the initial race), until you have a car/clothes and you are satisfied with your character. This way you can rely on your own internet connection and not have to worry about others.

 

Does anybody know if they are re-installing money that has been lost, once they find a suitable fix? Also people are money boosting with certain missions and getting half a million in a couple of hours. Can anyone confirm that it's Rockstar that are deleting their characters because of this?

If you have previously created a character but see an empty character selection screen when entering GTA Online, please back out to GTAV Story Mode and try re-entering GTA Online through the pause menu (repeat or wait until Rockstar cloud servers are back up). Do not create a new character in the empty slot where your character should be.

 

If you receive the message 'The Rockstar Cloud Servers Are Unavailable', please return to GTAV Story Mode and follow the steps above. Please do not press Retry on the message and do not proceed online with saving disabled, as this may lead to overwriting your existing character.
