GTA Online has only caused problems for me, I did get to play for about 4 hours the other day and it was fun but now the cloud servers are all f*cked and my character is gone. I hate that they are using the cloud servers and it works fine for some people but other people only have problems.

I am loving singleplayer. I will be playing this for a long time, though I don't totally disagree with the OP. To me if Rockstar would implement some of the small things found in multiplayer I would be thrilled. I would love to steal a car and sell it at LC Customs for some $$$. I wish they would open up the bank interiors so that we can rob tellers for some decent money, and maybe some small scale recurring heists we (the single player) can plan and execute. Also I hope that the casino and racetrack will be playable offline (though my hopes are not up).

 

Some things are great, other things could be better. I was really disappointed how scripted the heists in single player were, even when you select what you think is stealthy and quiet it still ends with a police or military chase. I get it they wanted the "movie" feel. It left me unfulfilled (my opinion of course).

I like the game OP, so go ahead, call me a fanboy. Like it really makes a difference? It won't really hurt my feelings and you'll look dumb for a few minutes until most of us forget about it all. But I guess while I am here, I could at least contribute with a good post. Something with a bit of thought behind it and something you'll probably ignore or just make some silly, short remark that avoids even trying to have a conversation.

 

So you know why I like the single player? Because this world is alive and huge. No two streets are the same, neither are buildings. There is as much detail in any random alley you pick as there is in Downtown. There is as much detail in Sandy Shores, Blaine County, etc. as there is in Michael's house. The fact that Rockstar's attention to detail and the effort they put into the atmosphere is beyond amazing.

 

There is a culture to every part of the city that makes all areas feel unique. Walking down Downtown or Michael's neighborhood is nothing. There is not a lot of danger. Walk into Balla's territory, Vargo's territory, etc. and you're in a whole new world. See those 3 guys just hanging out talking, do even one wrong thing and not only those 3 are attacking, but the other 5 people on the block. You want that Ballas car that is all nice and purple on Grove Street, go ahead and get in it and then survive the 12 guys shooting at you. Every single area in this game has it's own unique identity that makes the world just feel real and alive.

 

Then there is all the random encounters you can start. No need to really explain them, I think you should easily get the point.

 

Then let's talk story. I think it's good. For a video game, it's great, for media overall, it's good. The characters are all unique, they are developed well unlike IV. They surprise you, but still act like you expect them too. They seem like real people, not just characters in a game. The voice acting is amazing, the story is good, almost every mission was unique and different from the rest. It reminds me of the older GTA's so much. No more drive here, kill them, get away. Now it's drive here, see something funny, do something silly, maybe kill them, or just finish your original task and never hurt a soul, but still have plenty of fun.

 

The single player experience is a big one too. I don't see how someone can say there is nothing to do. When adding all of the hobbies, activities, strangers/freaks, and storyline missions together, there is more content there than in any GTA game including San Andreas. Then you also have all of the random encounters, you have gun customization, player customization, the car customization that just destroys San Andreas and pretty much any previous game of the genre including Saints Row.

 

There's so much to the single player you can play for hours and never do the same thing twice and have a new unique experience every night for a long time. Then you can take into account there is an actual stock market in game, the internet has so many random interactive sites, etc.

 

So that's all single player. As for online, I've been fortunate enough to have been able to get on since launch and never have lost my character and have been able to get on every night since then too. I love it. My buddy and I have as much fun driving and exploring as we do robbing a convenience store or doing missions together. Every mission online is a new experience and results in unforgettable memories. My buddy and I stole an RV with a meth lab in it, were driving across the desert in Sandy Shores and I get taken out. Being the driver, I slumped over, was hitting the gas and my buddy literally sat in an RV going full speed in a straight line for over a minute before it finally crashed and he could get my body out and finish the mission solo. Such a tiny detail that ended up altering a whole mission and resulting in laughter and an overall good time.

 

The character customization is deeper than I thought it would be at launch. Now don't confuse that with character creator, that's pretty bad. But the customization is actually good and will only continue to grow and improve like the rest of Online.
