Add Cricket to GTA Online

Because a game about murder, theft and deviance in an American city really needs another sport... especially one that no one understands. We'd be more likely to get a FIFA rip-off than Cricket. Do you even think about the motion capture and programming that would go into that? Not happening, sorry.

Thanks for chiming in mate the only mocap I really think you need to add is a bowling run up. Everything else is included - Swinging a golfclub is similar to swinging a bat and throwing the ball for fielding is already built in with Chop.. Running is also already built in. What mocap would need to be done other than bowling run up and umpire signals?

ok man one last post to clear things up I didn't come here to say how much baseball is better than cricket...you did that for me...I did however come to tell you that you are wasting your time with all this "cricket in gta" nonsense because it will never happen...so you go ahead and keep imagining what the controls would be like if they did because that's about the realest its gonna get for you my friend....even after all your imaginary controls you are still a failure.

The American contingent here doesn't seem to like the idea but everyone from every other country has been really supportive.

 

What most Americans don't know is that the USA played the first international test match in Cricket and this country had a proud cricket tradition in Philly until Baseball took over. If it didn't exist this sport would be #1 and baseball is sort of a rip off of cricket that has been dumbed down and nerfed..

 

Either way its a great game and would be a perfect fit for GTA Online

Tanks firing Cricket balls would be great. Also, add in a decent double barrel shotgun to shoot the balls in the air like clay pigeons. Of course, these would have to be included in a separate game mode (crazy Cricket?) but could, nonetheless, be amazing fun.

Its just not true, whenever I go play the entire day flies by you show up at 10AM and play doesn't stop until around 19:00 and its gone before you know it, best way to spend a weekend and it keeps you fit.. Lots of nice girls play also and they are also all fit Its action packed and you meet lots of cool people. It would be perfect for GTA Online we need to bring in the fraternity and brother/sisterhood that cricket brings to real life.

Another thing i'm thinking about is the mechanics for a pre game pitch inspection. I think all the players should spectate while the match umpires (Also players) walk the pitch and see how wet the ground is at the beginning of play, and any time it starts to rain the spectating batsmen can run over and pick up a big tarp and wait for the umpire to signal them to run in and cover up. All these little things will make this fun and entertaining even for a batsman who is not currently in the game.

Pitch inspections and running out the tarp are must haves and I'm sure Rockstar wouldn't consider adding Cricket without them. This would make breaks for rain even more exciting and it would give the players a chance to insult each other. "This pitch is as wet as your batting mate, you're going out for a golden duck once I've filled up on samosas and beer. We're going to smoke you like a Cuban cigar once this rain stops." Genius.

Yeah we've already fleshed out the tea breaks, you can play poker, drink pisswasser, or smoke cigarettes during the tea break or if play is stopped for rain. Glad you are onboard we'll see you in the first GTAO test match i'm sure

 

I'm thinking about a mechanic to make the sledging El Tel mentioned really work. Lets say if you guys are batting and I do enough sledging (Whats your average mate? Are we playing a test match here? When are you going to score some runs? OHHHHH WHAT A BIG SHOT!! *sarcastic clapping*) to fill up the intimidation meter, the batter automatically suffers a performance penalty even if he gets the shot off perfectly. For you to avoid the sledging penalty a batsman must maneuver the sticks to keep his eyes straight ahead and to not even partially turn around to let the wicketkeeper know he's rattled

Brilliant mate we didn't discuss the different conditions possible, in the summer Los Santos is more like sub continent conditions but in the winter it's more like UK conditions... I'm going to think over this one and try to work out a mechanic for selecting conditions that will please everyone, we don't want to exclude swing or spin bowlers based on weather

Cricket is the silliest sport in existence and only England, Australia and India actively play it. Besides, no one on the face of the earth knows how to play that weird sport. Gimme baseball, rugby, basketball or football anytime.
