How people can call cricket more boring than baseball is beyond me. You guys should watch some Twenty20 cricket if you don't like the idea of a game lasting days, it lasts three hours and you get way more DINGERS!!!!!! Except they're called sixes in cricket.

This is exactly right and cricketers don't take steroids like American baseball players to hit home runs, they hit the ball with natural technique rather than brute force in most cases and its a far more technical game because in baseball the ball comes right at you on the full but in cricket it bounces and deviates so you have to worry about the flight mid air and then how it will pitch on the bounce

Far more exciting to watch than baseball pitching and requires far more skill to play so some of you really need to get a clue!

I think the main problem that's apparent in this thread, is that the people that do like cricket REALLY REALLY REALLY LIKE IT. So much so that any arguments against it really being that fun are just shunned.

I've grown up in England and played cricket on and off growing up, it's not that bad a sport to actually play. The way some of you are phrasing the watching it side of things baffles me though, as if it's some grand spectacle that puts all other sports to shame :p

Just because people don't find it interesting doesn't mean they are ill informed or of poor taste. There are plenty of logical reasons to be either for or against any sport. Even in England cricket fans these days are the minority by far, so Americans in an American themed game are even less likely to be into it.

I could watch people fighting professionally for 4 days straight, I could watch people play basketball til my eyes start bleeding. But I can also get why people would dislike the sports I love, there are quite a few reasons to not like the sports. Same goes for Cricket.

Staying awake long enough to watch a match shouldn't be a mark of pride in arguments FYI :p

As for the Indian food to include samosas and onion bhajjis for sure and I think they eat those pretzel shaped sweets as well that are a bright red color if anyone here is indian could you tell us the name of that? They are sticky and you always see people eating them at cricket.

I think curry is probably too heavy to be included in the game but any type of fried indian finger food is fair game

I think the main problem with this thread, is that while we have had a few pictures of Cricket, we haven't had enough pictures of Indian food.

These are the onion bhajjis im imagining for GTA Online cricket, spicy and a little greasy but not so greasy that you cant grip your bat properly.

Delicious. Can't forget the mint yoghurt or mango chutney though. Can't have a bhaji without them. We have to make sure they're included by Rockstar into the DLC.

What we have come up with so far:

An innovative cricket mode for GTA Online that is similar in style to the sports already included in the game. Some mechanics we've already fleshed out for our proposal/petition we'll be sending to rockstar:

Batting with a variety of shots, forward defensive, backwards block, hook, pull, cover drive, et cetera by pulling the stick back and timing your swing forward while also holding down a button to designate the type of shot.

Bowling similar to golf swing where you pick power , line, and spin and then run up and press X at the right time to avoid an umpire calling you for a no ball

Mechanic similar to the strip club touching mechanic where you can tamper with the ball when the umpire isn't looking and if he catches you you get a warning or rated as a bad sport

MEchanic borrowed from store robberies where you yell HOWZAT into your microphone to appeal for nicks and LBWS and the umpire actually reacts based off how convincing your appeal is

Indian food built in to regenerate stamina during drinks breaks

Health damage from bouncers , also a penalty to reaction time.

11 fielders, 2 batters play at once as do 3 umpires for the GTA Online total of 16. Other batsmen spectate while they wait and can clap or sledge opposition by pressing various buttons.

We have a few more things planned as well in this but this is the game in a nutshell.

I'm tired from all this brainstorming but hopefully when the UK people wake up they will have some great ideas to add into this as well.

Most people who know the rules find it interesting mate its the ones that have just seen a glimpse on tv who dismiss it as boring

That's just a misconception you have because you like the sport, I know the sport well and couldn't care less about watching it as I find it dull. I know plenty of others who just genuinely don't find it interesting. I don't mind playing it as it's quite fun, I find that with pretty much every team sport though.

I could literally watch starcraft 2 pro matches for 4 days straight and not get bored. Just because its ruleset is deep and it's a technically difficult game, doesn't mean that those that find it a boring ass piece of sh*t to watch are wrong though :p It's just not their cup of tea.

Especially if you are going to present your asshole and take a big steaming sh*t over baseball in that previous comment (a sport that millions love and watch which seems to be the main justification for cricket here), I want some decent arguments as to why it's actually more fun besides people just being apparently to ill informed to enjoy it if we are resorting to throwing other sports under the bus like that :p

I hate baseball to though. Pretty much any sport with a batter and fielders gets dull to me when the quality of the players fielding gets to the stage where gameplay because dull and passive so as to not slip up. Sports need more moment for bold creative moves!

Well obviously it is more fun to play , rather than watch, but the game is great either way and it would be a magnificent fit into GTA Online.

I've had an idea regarding the food. Instead of just the food just adding to stamina, there could also be a gauge for bravado. How it would work is:

1. Select your Indian treat from the table (based on spiciness)

2. Dip it into your dip of choice. Each dip will have an effect on the spiciness of the snack, either multipling or dividing and you can dip for different lengths of time and in more than one dip for different combinations.

3. Try to build your stamina while eating the spiciest food you can. The spicier the food, the more the bravado gauge fills.

4. You either choose to finish eating, or you over do the spiciness and end up running to the toilet. This effects play by either:

A. Giving you a boost to your stats of you manage to eat the spiciest foods on the table during lunch.

B. Giving you a negative boost to stats and reduced stamina if you end up rushing to the toilet.

@theadmiral

I think you should put the list of ideas in your first post so people who go to page one can see what we've come up with.

I tell you the problem for me with baseball, it's the gloves. I mean, it's hard enough to hit the damn ball in the first place with the stupidly shaped bat that gives you no control over your shot, then you're forced to run no matter where it goes, and then if it goes anywhere near a fielder you're guaranteed to be out cos they're all wearing ridiculously huge gloves. Ban the gloves for an instantly better game, never gonna happen though, glove making is big business.

I've been talking to my coworker Ramesh and he thinks this is a great idea too. He was saying that the top spin and back spin mechanics already cover most things that happen when bowling and that we would really just need to add lateral spin on the ball to make it perfect

Could you imagine bowling a Shane Warne flipper in gta online while all your mates go "ohhhhh yes" on the microphone

Can't wait until rock star adds this into the game it's going be awesome

You can also press square to yell out "Bowling!!!!"" followed by an X for clap.

Triangle will yell out "RUN!" if you want to play sleazy style by confusing opposing batsmen with fake calls. Circle will yell "STAY STAY STAY" and if you hold down R2 when you press triangle you can shout out "ONE FOR THE THROW"

Another mechanic i'm trying to work out right now is if you hit a ball too far on a six and it gets lost in the woods, both captains and the match official need to pick a new ball that is about as many overs old as the one that was lost, i'm thinking a screen with 5 different balls on it and you vote just like you would in the mission selection screen, the ball that gets a majority vote is the new ball even if the seam is roughed or the lacquer is cracked. Havent fleshed that out all the way yet but I will post as soon as I do
