:-)

I figured someone may take it seriously :p

If you wanted people to take you as being for real and not a troll, why not have some dotted points of realistic goals as a summary and have a separate column for your fantasies?

It would be tough to go back to everything, but I think you can narrow it down fairly easily. The must haves would be the core mechanics that are absolutely required to play the game. The whole point is to get a playable game of cricket into GTA Online.

The stuff that you call fantasies (I call them detailed ideas) would come second to the core game mechanics.

I can work on a detailed list if you would like one.

Yeah but what do you want the mechanics to do? Do you want a full swing or a little bang that makes it do the same thing? When they run, do you want their legs to move in a realistic fashion, or slide along the ground? An edited list of your primary and secondary goals every now and then may help.

I still don't get if you even want a full-on cricket game which would take some doing, or some cheap Wii-like game where it doesn't have much depth.. All people see when they come in here and read the last few pages is stuff about how commentators should pick their ass and 12th man should sniff his fingers.

It's not helping your case to only show these and not the core of the idea itself. Yes they're in here, but don't expect people to read long posts without dot points when they can't read 2 paragraphs and not post tl;dr.

Sounds like you need to go play FiFA or whatever that dumb soccer game is called. We play Football, baseball and basket ball here!

And any of those would be retarded in this game. All require cooperation which no one in this game will ever display.

There are also cricket ovals all over the United States and players playing it in every major city . We've linked quite a few cricket clubs and associations across the country to prove to people just like you that Cricket is as American as can be (Considering the diverse ethnic backgrounds that populate the USA today). Please check back through the previous 40 pages and you'll see many of these links.

In my city alone there are 3 leagues. In my league, there are three tiers, and each tier has 12 full teams in it.

This whole "Cricket is not played in the USA" thing has already been busted in this thread.

Just because a bunch of foreigners play a game that they dragged with them from their sh*thole countries and refuse to let go when they get to OUR country does NOT make it an American game. Cricket is not American. Cricket is british and the vast majority of real AMERICANS don't give a sh*t about it.

So what if Americans don't play criket or it isn't all that popular? GTA is sold all over the world, not just in America, where active sports are played. Maybe you'd like the sports to be limited to NASCRAP and what we call rugby but you lot, for reasons that the rest of the world will never understand, call it American Football with ad breaks every 5 minutes?.

The game has golf in it and that is not an American game. I believe it is Scottish. Tennis is believed to originate from France and darts from (most likely) England so by your logic they should be inculded.

Oh, and one more thing, GTA was developed by a Scottish company which most certainly ain't American. Have a nice day.

Remind me again which country's culture this game is built around?

It's an exagerated view of America, that is true. But what about golf, tennis and darts? Neither are American spports by origin.

Golf, tennis and darts are all popular in the United States and therefor they belong in a game centered on American culture. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with country of origin, it has EVERYTHING to do with popularity in the targeted culture.

I've already fleshed out all the mechanics in detail in this thread. If you think it would be useful to post a summary, again, so that newcomers can get the general gist of everything we've compiled without reading through all 40+ pages, I can take that suggestion to heart and I will work on that list for you, though it may take me a bit to cover everything that the I and the contributors to this thread have come up with.

It is probably a good idea to do it. I'd rather everyone read the thread so that they can see how everything came about and the development of the discussion, but I do understand that probably isn't realistic.

I'll work on a list.

I can have an opinion. I will say what I want when it is in fact in the rules because yes, I have read them, and I'm not going to be scarred by a mod telling me what I'm saying is off topic because in all honestly I posted on topic and was called out, which is off topic. I disagree with this post and I have seen several posts in here that were not on topic, that is why I said lock. It has become nothing but people calling people out (including the mod calling me out, he could have just as well PMed me saying the same thing.) My point stands. Have a different opinion? Good for you.

My on-topic post:

There is literally 100's of other things I think are NEEDED, not wanted, before we can even consider placing a sport that only a small percentage of the world plays. I live in America but I'm am not shy to outside knowledge of other sports around the world. Cricket is a very well liked sport, but it certainly does not compare to many other sports.

For example:

- Soccer (futball) , soccer wins hands down. I never played soccer but id rather see a sport that more people would enjoy online rather than a sport a small percentage would enjoy. I played soccer when i was young and i understand why it so popular.

- Baseball, baseball would be another great choice. Many of the worlds country's can play because all you need is some type of ball and a stick.Played baseball for 12 years, people would enjoy this.

- Basketball, Also one of the worlds top popular sports. Very easy to play, almost anyone can do it. Would be easy to implement into the game. Played 6 years, surprised it wasn't put into the game.

- Football, Not most common around the world as the other sports above but it is growing faster than any sport before it. Many countries are building their own Football league. Played 4 years, would be very excited to see this implemented.

-Other sports that are easily more popular, Hockey, Wrestling, Boxing, Bowling, Competitive swimming, Etc..

Don't get me wrong, these are MY opinion on the games. Many others feel the same and many others disagree. But correct me if I'm wrong, I can name 30 different games and several brands that include these games world wide, and iv heard of only a few games that were about cricket and they were all joke games. I'm sorry we well this way about the sport but I, and many others would agree that Cricket would be far, far down the list of sports that would need to be implemented.

Most popular sports in america

1.Football 2. Baseball 3. basketball 4. hockey 5. Soccer 6. tennis 7. golf 8. wrestling 9. motor sports 10. Badmitten

Badmitten is more popular in america than Cricket

Other popular sports

  2. Disc Ultimate
  3. Lacrosse
  4. Rugby
Other popular individual sports
  • Golf
  • Disc Golf
  • Boxing
  • Mixed martial arts – Developed in the 1990s, MMA has achieved popularity in the 21st century. Many companies promote MMA cards, with the U.S.-based UFC the most dominant.
  • Wrestling – Though not a popular sport on a national level, high school wrestling is one of the most popular participatory sports for young men in the U.S.
  • Racquetball
  • Rodeo
  • Skateboarding – Skateboarding culture was born in the U.S., which holds many of the top tournaments and produces the majority of professional skateboarders.

Your logic is unsound. The game is set in an American culture, not a global one. It would not make sense to put in every sport or every reference from every country GTA is sold in. It would destroy the immersion by making the game a jumbled mess. If the game was set in england then cricket would make perfect sense - but its not.

Also you need to remember that for the most part the US is not like europe in that we don't think globally. We don't see ourselves as being part of the global community like europeans do. To us it is the United States and then everyone else. Because of this we (real Americans) don't openly embrace foreign culture as others do.

I don't see darts on your list. I don't see yoga on your list. I don't see triathlon on the list. Yet these wee all sports that have already been included either on or off line.

Here is a list of the 50 most popular cars in the US http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/consumers-most-popular.html. You will notice there is not one supercar on the list yet Rockstar still included super cars in the game. How often does the average American jack a car and shoot cops with a rocket launcher?

What is a real American? You must Native American. It seems your hate for foreigners is so strong I can't imagine you having a "foreigner" as an ancestor. Then again Native Americans aren't white so you probably don't consider them to be real Americans either. Edited by Jolly SWAGman

Yoga is not a sport so of course its not on the list lol. Darts arent a sport but a 100000 games of darts are played in america for every game of cricket. Triathlons are part of track and field which is part of americas 50 most popular sports.

Please do some reading before for you make such ridiculous statements such as darts is not a sport.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darts

Here is a link to competitive yoga championships http://mobile.nytimes.com/2012/06/12/sports/world-yoga-tournament-displays-real-athleticism.html

You can't just lump triathlon in track and field then claim it is one of the fifty most popular sports. Using that logic I could just say cricket is a ball sport and as ball sports are the most popular America that cricket is the most popular sport.

But all of this irrelevant. This thread is about adding cricket to GTA not to debate which are the most popular sports in the USA. Please try to stay on topic.

Back on topic.

Regarding the twelve man being able to drive a caddy it would be great if the caddy has some customisation. I would love to be able to add my cricket clubs logo (could use crew logo mechanic). I know this is probably a bit unrealistic but some custom modification would be good too. Imagine you club's Caddy just starting off with an esky modification to give the on field players drinks but after delivering enough drinks as twelve man in the vehicle you will unlock the full Gatorade bottle conversion similar to what is used to deliver drinks in modern international games.

I can't believe this thread is still going.

Cricket in GTA is pure fantasy. Wrong culture and wrong type of players playing the game.

The idea seems fun as a seperate game but this thread shouldn't be taking up prime spots on the 1st page of a GTA forum. This thread should really be moved to the gameplay section or a wish list section so the people who want to talk fantasy cricket can but then it leaves the forum uncluttered and everyone can get back to talking chadder.

Id be willing to contribute towards a crazy cricket game seperate to the GTA series but the key antagonists on here are trolling to the nth degree and can't be taken seriously with some of the ideas being put forward. All these stupid posts make a credible idea look like the biggest joke since rockstar unveiled GTA online.

Damn, can't you read? If you played the game rather than just coming onto a froum and randomly spouting rubbish you'd see that there are nods towards global culture throughtout the game.

We also see it as the US and everyone else. Primarily, due to the entire world having a unifying dislike for the US. As for you claiming to the a real Amercan, are you a native Americani.e. a Red Indian?

I find it amusing that there are people actually arguing in this thread that since this game is set in the USA, it is therefore primarily targeted at an American market. Here's a big shocker: millions of people outside the US buy this game too, OMG MIND BLOWING MY EYES HAVE BEEN OPENED.

You realise that Rockstar is a British company, right?
