Add Cricket to GTA Online

Perhaps we should think about referencing the Compton Cricket Club, maybe call them the Grove Street Cricket Club? Perhaps they could be a non-playable team that you must beat on the pitch and the streets. Could make for an interesting Cricket-based storyline.

If this game were based in England or Australia, I could see Cricket being a fesible addition. Considering this is GTA V and it is based in a rendition of Los Angeles, I would have to say that Cricket would not make sense in this game. It's an American game that encourages us to take part in American pass-times. You say that tennis is not a popular sport. It probably isn't in Australia. I'm from Canada, and I live in a town heavily dominated by tourism, and I can say for sure that in the summer the Tennis courts are full of sexy female tennis player. I f*ckin' love it!

Yeah, I realize it's just a game. I never said anything about it having to be realistic, "my friend". I'm just saying that these games have a theme, and it's in the developer's interest to stick to that theme.

 

I'm pretty sure that there has already been a thread for people to post what sports they'd like to see in GTAO

*I tried all this but the character limit is met with "VinewoodCricketClub" so we'll need to fit it in that character limit

All I see is an 18 page thread of 4-5 cricket fans posting useless nonsense, and every other post being a dislike towards the idea, once read thoroughly, cricket is an incredibly stupid idea. Too much to implement in the game and would cause servers to run 10 times slower. This is an AMERICANIZED game, as said by ROCKSTAR. Involving a game that's only seen the eyes of, maybe 12 people in the U.S. would be stupid. Straight up STUPID. I do love this thread just to be racial towards those bloody buck-tooth pantyloafin fanny-wassin brits. Whatever the f*ck that means. I was just telling you that I live right on the border of Canada and The States, and that lots of people here play Tennis. Nobody here plays cricket. So, in my mind it makes sense that R* would implement a sport that LOTS of Americans play, such as Tennis as opposed to something that maybe only a fraction of the population in North America plays, such as Cricket. Maybe you should just go back to playing The Getaway. It would make sense for that game to have Cricket.

Yeah, LTS is super lame. I'm not saying that Cricket would be a bad idea per se. I'm just pretty sure that the lobbies would be baron. But, I could be very wrong considering tons of people from the UK and other countries also play this game. To be honest, I'm just really excited for heists. That'll be the bread and butter for me.

If the lobbies are baron it'll be just like a race we'll have a 4 or 5 person practice where one bats one bowls and everyone else fields and we switch off, no problem at all.

 

The key is just to get the concept in game using the mechanics rockstar has already included I n other game modes and I think it is pretty realistic and doable

As another point hell if rockstar wants to sell cash cards i'd be fine with them making the best cricket bats cost like 1 million in game , we could make everything expensive so you had to really earn it or you could pay for a cash card in which case rockstar would make more money, not that I support that but i'd be willing to accept it to get this idea in game

It would tank as a sport in gta. No one would know what to do. The 5% of Americans will get It tho lol..

One thing I was thinking about for GTA Online cricket is the mechanics for taking guard.

 

When a new batsman goes to the crease he must fist bump the out going batsman and upon arriving at the crease he must activate his headset and ask which guard he would like, but if he doesn't say "Sir" there will be a penalty and eventually you will be put with the bad sports

 

For example "Middle please, sir!"

 

Then the in game umpire can use the left joystick to control his finger, pointing in the direction the batter must move his bad to take guard. And if the batter doesn't do it fast enough the umpire can get pissed off

 

Any thoughts or tweaks to that mechanic?

Just to clarify it will be your choice to select the guard you want I just used Middle as an example, probably most people will guard up on Leg
