R.F.
I swear to god I can't take it anymore... In every f*cking job there is that one stoned guy who's talking to himself... Or 3 kids screaming their brains out. Or a couple of microphones making noise for no reason. This really ruins the GTAV online experience, at least for me. Why isnt there an ALWAYS MUTE option for the online mode? If you want to talk to somebody you can turn it on if you dont you turn it OFF. I know you can mute individual players but only after the job starts (by going to the options menu, players, mute toggle - or something like that) but i`m talking about loading menus, lobbies, etc. Isnt there permanent off mode? hugh750
i had something simular in the xbox 360 version of gta online lastnight i joined in on a job and on of the players was making a constant squaking noise so i brought up the main menu and looked at players so i could mute the offendibg player but he wasn't listed. Eternal Highness
Man I've been trying to figure this same thing out. What about that menu that pops up when toy hold the sleep button? I think there's some chat options in there.
Fmlad
If you hold the back button you can go down to talk to "no-one"-"crew"-"friends"-"crew+friends"
KrankKopf
Fmlad, this only works in Freemode and I can also say that there have been times where it hasn't even worked there. When I die or kill, I can still hear people talk. I think all people like R.F. and I want is the option to completely disable the voice function because it serves absolutely no useful purpose in the game other than to harm the experience. Tactical discussion has been exactly 0% of the voice chat conversations I have heard in game lobbies/deathmatches and muting individually in a race simply isn't an option. KrankKopf
Carimbo, that's great that it is working for you, but in my case (and I am sure I am not alone) people in game lobbies/jobs are still not muted as well as occasionally in freemode. Yes, I did confirm to make sure the option was still set to "no-one."

Yes, I did confirm to make sure the option was still set to "no-one." Exactly. Why isnt there a feature so basic like this? Why do I have to take this crap every f*cking loading and lobby? I swear I cant play this game anymore, its always a bunch of kids either laughing at each other or talking to themselves... I can't even mute them individually after the match started if its a race. I have to take their annoying yelling that takes over the overall sound of gtav or mute the f*cking home cinema. I cant believe there isnt a function as simple as turning off the sound chat... Such a great multiplayer experience ruined by this, at least for me... Its like someone gave you the most delicious cake in the world and then took a sh*t all over it, bon appetit douchebag! Thanks for the 60 bucks btw.
CarimboHanky
i put the game on "no-one" only once and i havent hear no one talking since. only a couple words when the game is loading the free mode but apart from that everything is muted! R.F. Well thats the problem, over 50% of the game I'm in some loading screen listening to stoners chewing or something like that. Then the match/race/whatever starts and I don't have the time to mute each player because I either loose or get shoot. My best bet is turning off my sound system... I hope rockstar adds a chat mute in the main audio options menu. But I don't think they will, for some reason they think this is better, I think its the same story with RDR right? saintsrow
In the past 5 years of GTA IV, I have dropped into multiplayer about 3 times just to see what it's about. As the OP says, the player mic audio is a combination of incoherent slurred adolescent mumbling, an occasional shout or expletive, or bursts of stupid stoned laughing. Nothing coherent, and so that is my view of mutliplayer. Sounds like GTAO continues the fine tradition.

Go into device settings and sync up a bluetooth earpiece I believe a USB headset would work. Go into device settings and tweak the output to either the headset or usb. I believe you can even adjust the output of convo Also in the game settings isnt there an option to switch off voice from TV? JustOneMonth
Only one guy was using tactics, but they were so obvious and useless that i ignored him, but there are stoners with WIERD voices it sounds like an old guy dying. Childs and squearkers steal the show anyway. We need a mute option, i feel like an idiot hearing a child screaming in the mic. I don`t even have a mic as i see no point for it. magicaldog
go into game options and switch the voice to TV option off... There are no "Voice to TV" option There are only a "Voice through Speakers" option ( Probably mean players own voice ) option which doesn't seem to do anything to mute other players Edited October 18, 2013 by magicaldog

I assumed it was for other players... having your voice come out the TV creates and awful feedback so your idea of it makes no sense.... but R* could be that dumb.... I mean you already hear what you are saying as you say it. read my other post then ... it will help you deal with the BS Edited October 18, 2013 by HakatoX
