Possibly how to tell if it's safe to go online (cloud)

I could be wrong, but it seems that if you see your character's picture in the bottom quadrant when holding Down to switch characters in the SP game then things are good. Go online, you'll save etc.

 

No pic means no cloud, you'll get an alert, and it's best to just drop the controller and run.

 

It seems to hold up, I always check first and don't even try to go online if no portrait, so far I haven't lost #4 character.

I've never had my character show up at the bottom unless I go from Online into Single Player. Online worked for me, too, despite the picture not being there when I went straight into Single Player.

my character hasn't showeed pretty much 90% of the time and i still get online... it very rarely shows so I dno... xbox servers are f'ed atm anyway cant do sht

Yeah I rarely get that picture unless I've gone from mp to sp.

Huh. It seems like I get an alert whenever i try to log on if I can't see my character, while the opposite is true.

 

I suppose it could be a pattern I just want to see, ha. Maybe some other people will chime in with some thoughts.

I have gotten online with no picture there before, but that's when i seemed to have issues, I should have mentioned that.

 

Someone should tell R* that the Twitter machine can communicate an update to everyone at once.

My game just froze while I finished a mission(PS3)

Well, I created my character couple of days ago and reached lvl 11. Then cloud servers went down and I started to worry about character (I was about to take a hammer and DESTROY my GTA V copy if I had to see Lamar's face at the airport again). I logged on next day and my character was still there. Played another few hours and as always cloud servers went down again. That time I was seriously worrying about my char. Decided not to play until R* fix the issue... However it was too tempting so... I've gave it a try the next day - Character still there.

 

Everytime cloud servers are going offline I get disconnected and so I just stop playing for the rest of the day. My tips would be:

 

-Do not switch your console off while online

-Wait until the game throws you out itself

-If you really want to quit, switch to single player using character wheel.

-As long as you see your online character stats in the character selection wheel (avatar may not display) your character should be there untouched.

-Do not try logging back on mindlessly after the game throws you out.
