new update from R*

I've had two characters deleted now. Earlier my stats were still on social club though, now it's all gone. f*ck rockstar. f*ck them. f*ck this game

If they were to give details and a time and for some reason weren't able to reach it then these forums would go up in even more flames. let them work on it without bitching

 

Thing is, they don't care whether or not this forum ''goes up in flames''. They are just providing whatever info they feel they should share, which is likely not much because a company like Rockstar likes to keep private assets very secretive, so they won't go into any details at all.

 

They'll never go like: ''Well the problem was that the information was all stored server-side but the blabla...'', they'll just say ''The problem has been resolved, we thank you for your patience''

To me this says that the data has actually been lost and instead of getting your character back they're going to try to compensate you for your loss.

I sometimes wonder if anyone here has ever had to fix anything. At my job, when the machines break, the most annoying question customers can ask is "when will it be fixed". The thing is, if you're not sure what's causing the problem, there is no way to guarantee a time it will be fixed.

 

All that said, I would love for it to be fixed. I lost 12 ranks yesterday. I'm sure Rockstar want this fixed ASAP too. This is a big blemish on an otherwise flawless history. All we can do is wait.

i think by now everybody has an idea where the problem lies but of course they wont acknowledge it...you know that thing thats server side and contains all the data that also fails to stay online.........if only for the love of me i wish i could remember such a thing oh well it will come back to me sometime........

Sadly we're not going to get the data back. I'd get used to that.

RDR had the character information saved client-side, I don't see what's so wrong about it that they couldn't do it for GTA:O. If they can release another update to allow that, it'd probably fix these issues. (Speaking of which, how incompetent does a company have to be to need to release two updates within a week?)

 

Difference is that RDR didn't have a micro-transaction system. People could very easily hack the save and give themselves unlimited money, thus defeating any hope of R* profiting from this game.

^ This. Sounded exactly that way to me too. "Determining options," doesn't sound like they are confident in their ability to retrieve all of that data.

Honestly, I do feel way better when Rockstar updates us like that. It calms me down and lets me know they are working on it.

 

I used to play League of Legends, and that was something RIOT was always good at. They would have someone spend 2 minutes to quickly update everyone on their Announcement page and everyone would feel better. They did this constantly.

 

I mean, what effort does it take to have someone just go on their twitter or Support page really quick, login, and type "We are doing x and x, and looking into x and such. Currently, there are issues with x and y also, and we're looking into this as well. Stay tuned"

 

I agree. It does calm you down a bit. I'm not really mad anymore I'm more disappointed. I really just want to play GTAOnline, however with 3/5 of my friends getting deleted there isn't a very confident vibe coming from our chats and it gets boring.

 

Hopefully this will be fixed in the coming two days, if it's any longer than that I'm just going to hook my PC back up and play something else.

i know there support boards are being blown up atm w/ ppl who have lost everything i have no idea how this will be implemented tho
