Player catches the Cloud deleting his character, when he isn't eve

So a player on another website was posting on forums, and his character was fine. He then caught the Cloud deleting his character when he wasn't even ONLINE.

 

However, he took screenshot of his character on Social Club just in case. And when he went to check Social Club again, he noticed the Cloud deleting his character. Look at how the Cloud suddenly doesn't recognize his character's portrait.....and then the rank goes after.

 

The Cloud deleted his character, when he wasn't even online. Picture proofs below.

You do realize that the Social Club Servers are what holds your characters, they even said this, so obviously he will disappear when he is playing or not, its a serious bug in the system if you ask me.

Chances are his character isn't deleted, its just unavailable until they finish whatever they are doing on the backend. Just wait it out, don't get impatient are keep remaking temp characters.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

 

The cloud isn't meant for gaming. Its meant for backing up important files. That doesn't mean it should be relied upon as the main way to access your files. There's a reason people use it as a backup and not their primary method of accessing their stuff.

 

Imagine the hell that you'd go through if you prepared a dissertation for a university course and on the day that you had to submit it, the cloud server just happens to go down or you encounter problems with your internet connection, leaving you unable to access it. That would completely screw you over and there's not a single thing you can do about it.

 

The way I see it, the game should save a certain amount of data locally... using the cloud won't prevent hackers from gaining access to their files, it'll just make it harder for them. A locked door can always be opened, no matter how good the security.

 

It almost seems like a punishment to people who play by the rules...

The 'Cloud' is basically a whole bunch of servers that are set up for users to save and load data from. For example, Google Drive would be cloud storage for you to upload things to.

I disagree. The single player was a bad launch too.

 

I couldn't use the Car modding feature, nor the Buying Cool Cars from the Website feature, simply because the damn game vanishes your cars, even if you save them in the garage.

 

To fix this, companies usually release a Day One patch, but Rockstar did no such thing. Not a Day 1 patch, nor Day 2, in fact, not a single damn patch to fix a damn thing until GTA Online came out 2 weeks later.

Yup, the people who monitor and release updates are usually off Sundays. Tech guys however often work Sundays so they are probably working on something but there isn't anyone there to give updates. Either way, if this is the biggest issue in some these kids lives, they have it pretty good.

smh stop saying and Sony!!!!!thats microsoft pumping the cloud and was going to make all the gamers be forced to play onlne sonys mark cerny said the cloud isn't all that and is not needed for gaming right now.

I heard the cloud commercials b4 GTA: O came out and didn't think much of it. Then I heard it earlier today and they were talking about losing data or not being able to access it. If it weren't so annoying/upsetting it would be funny.

You'd figure that this is the first time some of these people have experienced online issues, these kinds of things happen all the time, especially with online launches. There's nothing you can do but wait it out, really.

The mark cerny interview has been all over youtube its ign interviewing him and askin him what he thinks about cloud gaming. He says its good for saving data but is not needed for next gen basically saying its not the answer. microsoft has been marketing the almighty power of the cloud.

Cloud is just servers.....how can servers not be good for gaming? Well mostly multiplayer, no way is it going to add more graphic power at least not until we get extremely fast internet.

 

The term cloud has been used since the 50s but didn't become mainstream since Apple Iphone and Amazon...

 

MS is basically offering dedicated servers for whatever revs need, but are failing at marketing by using the term cloud which confuses non tech or people who think they are tech savvy.

 

Sony is using servers for streaming

 

But MS should shut up with cloud and just flat out say dedicated servers.

 

 

Anyways the deleted characters suck.

Wow what a f*cking joke. This is exactly what happened to me but I didn't have the foresight to catch it like that guy did. I was rank 45, browsing my character while out with the girlfriends eating lunch and my character showed up just fine on the Social Club site, portrait rank and everything. Go home a few hours later, and log in to an empty f*cking character selection screen. Go back to the same social club site on my phone and refresh the page, gone. F*cking. Gone.

 

I have never seen or experienced an online launch fail so bad as this one has. Just awful. Rockstar better come up with something in the way of compensation to their suffering customers.

 

... how much you wanna bet that free "Beach Bum Pack" that they announced before GTA:O is their intended "...sorry guys" free DLC......
