Always Throw Players Out Of Car?

So whenever I try to enter a friend or other players car in GTA: Online my character proceeds to throw everyone else out and hijack the car, forcing me to have to be the driver for every mission or commute... has anyone else experienced this and/or know how to fix it? My vehicle settings are set to everyone in the interaction menu by the way.

Just a theory but...if you're pressing Y try holding it. Or vice versa. Or the ps3 equivalent (triangle?)

You just tap the Y button on xbox, and tap the triangle button on the PS3

If you hold triangle (PS3) / Y (Xbox) that's when you can hijack another player's vehicle.
