Tutorial Race not working

Like so many others, my character(s) get deleted way to often. My main, which is in slot 2, disapeared Friday. It has yet to show back up and I don't know if it will. So for the time being I have been creating characters in slot 1, simply to pass the time. Everytime I feel like taking a break from GTA: O, it gets deleted, and I just make a new character and be on my way.

 

But now I have run into a new problem. I am about to attempt this for the third time, but every time now when I create a new character, and go through the opening cut scene, I get to the part where I walk to the blue circle to start the race. Except now the blue circle is missing and I have complete control of my character after I have finished walking to where the blue circle should be from Lamar's car. Only I cannot bring up the pause menu or the select menu.

 

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I am on PS3.

xbox seems to be working on that first race

Cloud's down broslice, the Cloud is down.

 

Repeated tries may get you through it, but honestly it's just gonna be frustrating.
