Oh my F*ing god. Have I just lost my character?

It let me in online, I thought great... Made some money. All saved fine. Went back to single player. Tried to go back to multiplayer and got the "cloud servers unavailable.. Do you want to continue without saving" etc.

 

I pressed yes by mistake.

 

It took me to the page with my 2 character slots, and they're both empty.

 

Is my character gone, or will it be back once the cloud fixes itself?

 

I've been playing and saving for 2 says no issues.

No, if the cloud servers are offline then your game can't retrieve your character. It does state in the message that you get a temporary character.

Same thing happened to me but I quite came back and said I had no character or anything but I still had my money in my bank that I had b4 this is going to make me take this game back this is annoying.

I can assure you I only pressed it once. It was asking if I wanted to continue with just disk loaded content. One press of A and it went to the slot screen.

Bad news is that we are all out another day of weekend gaming and we get to work (if lucky I suppose) for 5 days and try again next week.

 

Good news is that since i lost my 3rd character, i have been going online regardless of this mystical Cloud we are all slaves to and not lost him again..yet.

 

The difference is to never give up when you get the blurry screen of death. If you quit, deleted, or at least good chance it seems. It can take ten minutes, so go do dishes or whatever and come back ..eventually, you'll time out and hit x to continue. It has timed out eventually every single time for me.

 

As to your currently lost character, my advice is do not create anything. Just leave it be until this "The Cloud" returns to us. Your character really should reappear, I would not create anymore at all until then. Just a suggestion.

 

I think impatience and ignorance (the innocent kind) are creating a lot of chaos and uncertainty. All of which would be solved if R* would simply take the initiative and put their arms around this mess quickly. Silence isn't helping the rumor mills. I sincerely hope we all get our characters back.
