Why Rockstar isn't going to reset or punish any grinders.

The database behind this game is almost as impressive as the game itself. Editing a live database, that contains millions of recordsets, while having no allowance for mistake, is a black art at best.

 

Don't believe me? Then answer these questions.

• What level of VD missions should be set as a threshold?
• How would you prevent punishing the players that have played a lot and gotten the mission multiple times by "legitimate" play?
• How does one track assets purchased with farmed money vs "legitimate" earnings?
• How do you handle players with whom the deduction of moneys would put them into negative numbers? (most likely the db fields will prevent negative values)

This is what you call a can of worms. Each intervention would open the door to more problems and more bitching.

The easiest course of action for Rockstar is to fix the issue as quickly as possible and simply ride out the discontent. This is also the cheapest option for them. (Which do you think they will choose?)

its not really a cheat guys... rockstar forced this in RDR when it first came out i remember first week farming the heck out of 1 mission to get my buffalo to ride around on.

 

they just messed up in making the typical method of leveling up in RDR (didnt play max payne cant comment on its leveling system) (repeating and farming a few missions ad nausea.

 

see its not like the people who rob a store get out of LOS of cops go to xbox store/ps store then go back into game and rob again rinse and repeat. now that should be banned and money taken away.

 

violent duct was a mission albit way overpowered but thats not any users fault you cant punish a user when rockstar didnt even come on an say hey abusing this mission before we patch it IS AN EXPLOIT. they never said that they just tried to change it so people will have to buy their money packs to get nice things.

Why would Rockstar consider it a bad thing/punishable? Everyone can do it, but most won't because it is tedious. Tediousness is the cost.

Eve online does it all the time, and thier database much more impressive. You just have to have a very well designed database and management tools. Sadly it appears that Rockstar does not does not have these things.

But the ppl doing it are ppl who played the game legitimately and lost a character after reaching lvl 16. And the ppl who spent real money and lost it. They are pissed rockstar f*cked them over so of course they are going to glitch. Rockstar should ban no one. Just fix the cloud server issue, fix the glitches and look towards the future. Most of the ppl doing these glitches started off legitimately and then r* f*cked us over then basically told us to go f*ck ourselves on the support page If they start banning folks for glitching, while the data loss or sever issues still remain on their end , they will lose a good chunk of their online population .

Anyone complaining about grinders are merely suffering from a case of the green eyed monster.

It isn't hard to query a database to find out which users have performed the same mission 10 or 20 times in a row. Though I doubt they care.

I would only farm a mission like that for the RP. I don't care about the money, If I want mass cash that badly I'll just buy a shark card.
