Anybody have their characters back?

You're just getting lucky, like I was for 3 days.

 

And once it does finally happen to you (most likely will), you're gonna be stunned. The longer this issue goes unresolved the more likely it is that you will lose your character. After this long, I thought I was in the clear...but no.

 

True, I thought it was all going fine, then wham level 23 dude lost & 30 hours of "work" down the drain. I had fun playing the game to get to that level but losing all my stuff hurts.

I was almost level 30. Need 10k more to buy my first apt and I saved up the extra to buy one with a 6 car garage, so I'm bummed and stuck testing out cars and mods in single player until R* confirms I won't get him back.

 

I just finished the titan delivery mission and it yielded way more than previous missions even at that level:

$25000

I had a feeling this was a issue a few days ago, now when I play I go into single player, then go to online, then play solo I can hit retry there and I will get in straight away. Then to see if the cloud is working I will quick launch a mission. Haven't lost this character in a few days. Every time I log out I go back to single player and it saves to the cloud.

I used to get in no problem with the retry, but once it failed it failed for good.

 

Rockstars message also said that they are looking to compensate people for their time spent and deleted. I assume this is possible because of the overall career stat tracker that still keeps track of your total even if your characters get deleted.

 

I'm putting a ban on playing online until it gets fixed at the very least. Hopefully we get compensation as well, at least in the form of account cash if not levels. I have at least 400k coming to me if that's the case, although it does keep track of career RP as well, so we can get it back if they put the work in.

Ignore the mongoloids assuring everyone your char is saved on the mystical "cloud" and everything will be fine. I've been waiting 6 days for the return of my original character.

 

In an email they said that they are working to restore money , houses , vehicles , xp and levels that were lost during the first couple days of launch. Its fact.

I'm in the same situation sitting on 110K. I figure, at least our records are intact so that they can do something for us. Either way, I've got a ban on playing until they give an answer either way.

I'm able to go on to Bawsaq, but not able to access Snapamatic. My character is still missing. The fact that I can connect to Bawsaq makes me worried that I am actually connected to the cloud servers and my character really is gone.

Just started a new character and had 60% of my money ($170k) from my AWOL main, think it must've been how much cash i had at last save prior to a farming session whilst the cloud was down.

 

Main was slot 1, new character is slot 2.

well yes i lost a level 13, but i also lost a level 14 previously, in all i have lost over 85,000 RP so whatever that equates to (mid 20s maybe?) is what i've actually lost. not to mention money.

My level 21 char dissapeared totally then next day when i came online he was back but only lvl 17 and missing 150k. Apartment and vehicles were still there also. Was annoyed but at least i didnt have to start at lvl 1. It shouldn't take long to make that progress back but it still pissed me off

The cloud is not 'mystical' the cloud servers are real I assure you. When they are down and you try to get in it cannot download your character, hence it being lost. If you create a "temp" character to play anyway there is a possibility that it will overwrite your original one due to the cloud not working properly. If you leave it once your playstation can access the cloud server you might get your character back.

Gta online is broken. Simple as that. There's no excuse for character deletion.. Online connectivity issues is one thing but this just takes the cake. Unless they bring back my level 45 character with multiple appartments I'm done. I was using my second slot (only time I've ever used it) but its still gone
