Im sorry fanboys, but you gotta face the fact, Rockstar f*ckED UP. Had a character, cloud was up, lost it, rank 16, made another one last night, cloud was up, now its gone even though cloud seems to be up.

And dont act like this is ok, because it is not. I didnt even get warned! f*ck YOU FANBOYS.

My character has survived for two real life days, no problem with money loss, car loss, property loss, or anything... so maybe it's a regional thing? I'm in the Midwest.

guys don't worry in about half an hour if you don't play you will get you character back nut if yu play im not sure what happens I got my lv 20 back from a cloud outage.

it's not okay... i'm sticking to playing GTA 5 singleplayer and killing things as awesome characters like Michael, Trevor and Franklin until GTA Online stops being so sketchy.

you probably just jinxed it. i was thinking to my self "wow, all these people's characters are getting deleted except mine" and then what do you know, i take a break from ps3 and then come back an hour later and BOOM character gone.

Not True, I Saved my rank 20 via pause menu and quitting to SP Mode like R* said. Both my chars and all of my money vanished.

Why do people keep makng new ones? They complain when they lose hard work for the 5th time. Are people that impatient that they can't wait until it's all fixed that they have to make a new one every day then rant every time? I understand the first character but beyond that, just wait patiently.

Make sure when you create a character, to pause the game and return to the offline story mode to autosave your online character. Maybe for some reason the game is not properly autosaving on it's own for some people.

 

Also, make sure you have cloud saves enabled on your console if there is an option to turn them off or on. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it or not.

gta 5 is my favourite game atm but gta online doesn't work.... they should of kept the style of gta 4 online and just made it better. instead of this second life sh*t.

Holy sh*t don't say that. I have a slight advantage having it on Xbox . But then again I lost all my cash after the update .

I emailed rockstarsupport about lost of character and (or) data. Here's what they sent me . They bassically said they don't know Wtf is going on or how to fix it.

 

"Please note that our Technical Support Representatives do not have further information at this time about lost data for individual accounts, and are not currently able to restore progress. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, and recommend subscribing to the article for all updates about restoration.

 

Hope to see you Online and thanks for your patience through this launch,

A message in the loading screen recomends going back to story mode and back to online instead of recreating your character. Likely your character has somehow been lost in the cloud and isn't reconnecting properly. by creating a new character, you are confusing the computer in charge making these connections causing you to likely lose another character.
