This is why I'm waiting a few weeks for the dust to settle...

No point in hating a company for a faulty product at launch. Much worse things to hate, like terrorism, rapists, pedophiles, serial killers, hitler and he final solution.

I think you all just need to get put of the house or play more single player.

First time I've heard a game company mass delete characters though. If this was an MMORPG that people paid a sub for, the company would lose that IP within a week. Still not worth hating for for though.

My character lasted for a few days. Then today I was playing when everybody in the room dropped out. I could still play though so I figured I would keep playing. I eventually tried to join a new session after being bored of playing alone and I got kicked off. Now my character is gone.

 

REALLY hope it's there when the cloud is back. If not, don't know if I will keep playing this game quite honestly. Lots of wasted time.

I emailed rockstarsupport about lost of character and (or) data. Here's what they sent me . They bassically said they don't know Wtf is going on or how to fix it.

 

"Please note that our Technical Support Representatives do not have further information at this time about lost data for individual accounts, and are not currently able to restore progress. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause, and recommend subscribing to the article for all updates about restoration.

 

Hope to see you Online and thanks for your patience through this launch,

People say things like I lost 100k and 4 levels...when really you never had it, because the cloud server was f*cked and you kept playing without realising, it never sent your progress to the cloud, you left unaware, came back and it was gone.

 

Always look for the orange saving/loading circle, that means sh*t is being sent to the cloud. Always quit by clicking on "Leave GTA Online" because it says progress is saved. Always try loading your friend list in game, if it doesn't load your friends chracters and levels, chances are the cloud is down and you should NOT leave the game until it comes back up.

That really is depressing. I'm tempted to just stop playing for a few days.

 

Yeah. It was loading my online character in as normal from the camera map view. Was taking its time then screen went black, next thing it took me to the 4 slot character creation screen. It said my gamertag level 0

 

All I could do was exit online. Didn't wanna create a new un and wipe over my old one...but it's gone now anyway.

 

Yeah I'm not gonna play it now til I know it sorted. Good luck btw.

 

 

That's annoying. Amazing how it can lose your character some how just loading the game...I mean what the hell is the cloud server doing.

I lost the 400k apt, A car garage full of hard to find/buy cars like the futo, sandking, sultan, vacca, carbonizarre, etc, and my rank 14.

My last character just lost the 400k apt.

 

I made it farther for twice the disappointment

Even if 100,000 people were having this problem, it's still only a small minority compared to the amount they sold..

Personally I've been able to get on every time I try, I'm having no problems whatsoever and am enjoying life in my apartment on the 57th floor in Los Santos.

I'm not bending over for anyone, I don't have any problems so don't need to cry about it.

 

It's not as big as you make out, but it's significant enough that they are fixing it. (Every member of my crew is happily playing and hasn't had more than a few minor issues)

This is actually bs, I've lost things that have been saved in the cloud before, so what this guys says isn't actually true. The time I was rolled back it rolled back past 2 or 3 saves prior.

Just lost our character at level 19, after no issues up until now, went to create new character (bad move after reading some posts above, I know!) and stats and money were still there, did the first race and then xbox crashed. Went back on and character and stats gone, but money still there! I guess I have lost our character forever? Might just leave it a few days to see if this sorts out.

Honestly, I'm not sure what Rockstar are really thinking. Next-gen system launch is just over a month away, and they probably want their Online component to grab people and have them keep playing on THEIR software on a current-gen platform (assuming no rumours of next-gen or PC versions exist).

 

When the next gen systems come out, I honestly won't even care about GTA: Online unless the component gets ported over into next-gen splendour.
