At what point...

Do you guys think we'll have some resolution soon on whether our characters have been deleted for good? And if not...when is it going to be safe to actually go online and start a new character?

 

I mean I really want to play and am having a great time (when it works) but I've lost characters in both slot 1 and slot 2 and don't want to overwrite them (and it should go without saying I don't feel like grinding more hours just to have to start over from square one.

Welp. If the characters are actually deleted, Rockstar will never admit it. They'll just keep telling you they're working on it.

 

If they're recoverable, you should be able to get them back in 7-14 weeks.

Right after they;

Fix the first mission

Fix lag issues

Fix disconnects

Fix kicking system

level their own characters to 100

play 200 rounds of golf

release some bullsh*t DLC

reestablish cash cards

invent a new way to ride a bicycle

Have a massive party at RS:NY and purchase every hooker in the state.

Post a reply to every image of sharks on land on twitter

Make several support threads saying they'll get to something eventually.

Idk man...here we are at day FIVE, and the same old crap seems to be happening all too often.

 

After five whole days, the fact that these problems aren't fixed is SICKENING.

Yeah agreed...I just figured they'd have figured out some way to achieve stability on saves. I mean I'd rather not be able to get into missions and have my character than what's been happening...yeah I can get into missions and earn money. But of course all that money disappears into thin air.

So he said they can recover it? That's great! Except...how long will it take? I mean I guess I'm lucky...had to work all week so didn't have all the stuff some people on here had (30+ char with high end apt and tons of $$$) but still...I'd like to have my meager progress count for something. But anyway, if they can recover in the next couple days then great. I guess.

 

But if it's going to be week then f it...just get the cloud saves stable enough so I can start a new character. Right now the only stable thing with GTA V are the forums. And I didn't buy this game to surf forums.

How can they recover people when some people have overwritten the same slots over and over again, how would they know which character people want back? Maybe they'd restore an old character that overwrites your newer character that you progressed further on..

 

This really is a mess tbh.

Yeah and that's my issue. I have one character deleted from slot 1 and one deleted from slot 2. So I don't want to start a new one and lose my slot 1/2 characters. Now I'm stuck waiting just reading forums until I hear something from Rockstar about wtf is going on with our characters

I know. But that's the thing, we really don't know, even still, and maybe we never will know.

 

It's not impossible to restore a character, using BASIC server technology like incremental backups, you could pick a time, a date, and be just fine. But that's assuming Rockstar would think past the paycheck.

 

And since they wont tell us its gone, we don't know if we should start over, or keep waiting on something that may or may not happen.

 

And lots of companies have admitted mistakes at the risk of losing customers. I'm playing xbox 360, but I have a PS3 too. After Sony admitted their mess, I subscribed to PSN+. If you f*ck up, either fix it or apologize. Its just the right thing to do.
