When a game supports multiplayer for two players on the same console, where back says Players 1 means only one person, if it were to say Players 1-2 then two people could play on the same console. If it says 2-16 online, no you can't play with another person on the same console. Edited October 5, 2013 by Blackveiled

It works, trust me. If he doesn't want to do that, then he can't play then. So tell him to go leave you alone and to do something else. And Rockstar wrote 2 players to say that you don't need 2 controllers to play, they wrote that because they intended for you to switch off between friends, that's why there is more than one main character.
