Ways to prevent loss of data (or recover it)

Listen to a stranger here guys. Even if you know this already

1. BEFORE you leave online, GO TO SINGLE PLAYER. It forces online to save.

2. If cloud servers go down while you are playing online, STAY in the game untill they come back on. It will then save again as normal.

3. If your character dissapears, and cloud is active, wait for them to go down and come back up again. My character came back after 2 cloud shutdowns i know of.

4. Go to rockstars social club to see your online character and his stats, to see if they still exist (which they most likely do).

I do everything you say and so far it's kept my character, also buying an item of clothing or ammo etc brings up the cloud server saving icon for me, so i buy something before quitting every game.

 

Where on the social club can you see your character? I can see my playlists/jobs etc.

go to social club and click games, and then GTAV, then there will be stats for Michael, franklin and trevor, and your online character

I've always let it save and go into single player before turning off my PS3, but my character is still gone. This online experience has been terrible so far. Good job Rockstar.

Did this yesterday. Character disappeared whilst my PS3 was off overnight.

How are you supposed to know when the Cloud is available or unavailable? R* doesn't give any warning.

Yes, GTAO has not been working for me this evening, it has now come on straight away with no hiccup...except its taking me to pick a slot and character creation...and saying i have 36 grand in the bank..i really hope my character hasnt completely gone, a lot of hard work went into it!

Cheers guys, my character is still there on the social club, but I can't see it in game due to cloud server being down.

my character on the social club site has deathmatch and race stats tracked but it says hes lvl 0 instead of 21. Does that means he still has a chance to be restored or is gone?
