I thought R* was buying more servers?

They said they didn't anticipate so many people at launch, so they are buying more servers, or is that another lie? Doesn't seem like the patch did anything at all as people are still losing the characters.

 

After 4 days and not being able to get the game to work, I 'm pretty sure even they don't know what the hell is going on. They would at least say something to us about a specific problem, but they probably don't even know. If they are taking the cloud servers down, why the hell aren't they telling us so we don't all hammer the servers for no reason? Piss poor public relations. Either that or because they have no clue what is going on either.

 

This is starting to turn into a bad joke.

They are new to the online game, though a billion smackers should help. My Saturday is a bust at this point. I hope we can play tonight, I met some cool people last night.

Buying servers doesn't magically fix everything. There is more at play here than just the number of servers you have.

They are not new to it. First GTA 4, and then Red Dead Redemption, which worked PERFECT by the way. Actually GTA 4 was pretty crappy compared to RDR online. Maybe it's just the R* North division that is incompetant when it comes to online. They shouldv'e let R* San Diego take control.

Going from thousands of people trying to play online to millions is a big difference in server management. Its going to take some time.

RDR had the same problems when it launched. (A LOT of people were complaining about not beeing able to get online. Took them a long time to fix it too)

For the gazillionth time, no one is losing their characters, your PS3/XBOX doesn't connect to the cloud server so your character isn't loading.

I've noticed that the servers are going down at roughly the same time each day. Don't forget that they'll most probably be optimizing the server software, which requires server down time. Things are definitely getting better. I played before I went to work today and it was the most flawless I'd seen it yet.

Edit: Of course it would help R* if they actually communicated these sorts of things but nooooo, they don't thing we want to know the behind the scenes things.
