Since the latest patch, GTAO has been turned into yet another game where you have to grind like hell to get some of the most basic rewards (car upgrades, cheap properties etc). I know each reward for your time and hard work will taste all the sweeter but seriously, I don't have years worth of my time to dedicate to a game. This game is aimed at an older generation of gamers that obviously have jobs and families to think about. If the age rating for GTA was 12 then I'd get that a lot of kids have a lot of free time after school and during their holidays.

I just find it irritating that Rockstar are pushing people towards purchasing game cash with their real cash. They're a business yes, but a business that's just made a billion dollars in 3 days and should be investing that money in creating more amazing games.

The game is good fun right now and I expect it will be for quite a while yet but the novelty is bound to wear off and it'll feel more like a chore than a game.

Anyone else feel the same?

I kind of feel the same. I spent way too much time yesterday evening just to get a crummy 2 car property, the $25k one. I'm 27, I have a job and other responsibilities. I'm not a kid that can blow a winter vacation on grinding my way up in a game anymore. I sure as hell don't want to spend my actual money to buy virtual cash. I feel like this only going to get more tedious and time consuming but maybe I'm wrong.

Coming from Dark Souls, grinding in this game doesn't feel like grinding to me. It just feels like I am early in my playthru so I should only have basic things in the beginning. Level 16 currently.

Online gains are exponential, so expect a really slow start, but once you're going (100s of k in stocks, REAL online heists, betting a ton of money, etc) you will realize it was all worth while and for the good.

I hear ya on the time sink when you don't really have the time to begin with. Your journey will be longer and last longer which in itself ain't all that bad.

I dont feel like i'm grinding either. I'm rank 11 and have 130k It really isn't that bad so far. Plus heists aren't even in the game and I bet those give good RP and cash.

This isn't an MMO, you don't have to grind for anything. Just play the game and have fun, money will come.

heists are badly needed.

The jobs at the moment are not varied enough and you end up doing the same ones over and over again.

Also some of the cash rewards are way off from the mission difficulty making it feel more like a grind. Some take 3 minutes and give you $9000 (you know the one) and some take 20 minutes and give you $2000 and -$3000 in medical bills.

Still a good game though.

Doing missions on your own can feel like a grind, but when you play through some as a crew, it flies by and the money is just a bonus.

Besides, like you say us older gamers have other priorities, so why are you so bothered about levelling up in a game?

An online game where you can spend real money on game money for an easy advantage, only 2 types of games do that...

1) Facebook games

2) MMO's

This has too good of graphics to be a facebook game, buddy.

If you have a job and family responsibilities why do you care so much about virtual sh*t in a game? Just play and enjoy it for what it is. You don't need a ton of money to fully enjoy the game. It takes what, two or three days or less to get enough for a cheap property and a car.. what more do you need? Anything after that point is doing whatever you want in the game for fun.

If you can't dedicate the a lot of time to play due to family/real responsibilities then you may never play at a highly competitive level and you wont get the VERY BEST things as fast as the people who play all day.. that's just life, sorry.

It's not that bad in my opinion. You get higher paying missions as you rank and I've been ranking up pretty naturally without much grind. Also if they make money too easy to get then it loses value. Some things are a little ridiculously overpriced though, like some weapon accessories or respray colors.

I have to admit I agree, we either need more varied missions that pay a higher amount, I like the ones that pay like 5-9K but you only get those rarely and you end up spending more money on ammo that you ever do make a return.

I like the game so far it least isn't like maplestory you get a lot of money from flying and skyjumps and other sidequest

The ranking system and how money works isn't really for casual gamers as far as how much time it takes to get the good stuff. However, reasons like this are why you can buy in-game cash with real money.

It’s only the beginning, wait until the high end jobs and heists come out.

Although there IS grinding

No it's fun and rewarding, doesn't feel like grinding at all.

Though I'm staying off it for a week until they get it sorted out. Has starting a character from scratch IS f*cking grinding.
