When both ps3 are connected to the game after selecting the job it says on downloading for about 10min then fails

If I switch off one of the ps3's it the job goes to the lobby almost instantly

Basic networking. All data transmitted to rockstar is under the same ip address lets say 10.0.0.0. That's your outside ISP ip address.

Your nat inside is 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2. When data is transmitted to rockstar both play stations are using the same ip address so when data is sent back to you it hits your router and dies as it doesn't know we're to forward the data. A pc forwards data and generates a random port number for each webpage or data session were as a ps3 is dumb and forwards the same port number.

So basically both ps3 have the same outside ip address and port so data is lost as both ps3 are confused which data is there's.

You can fix this but takes some work

Check this out or search google for 2 ps3 same network. Requires static ips and changing router settings.

Yes, changing any PS3 or Xbox's IP address to a static one may also prove beneficial for online play. I had virtually no issues completing the tutorial, however, my issues arose when trying to connect with other people, mainly friends. I changed my Xbox's IP address to a static one of my choosing and opened the ports for it on my router and I haven't had a single issue with connection online yet.

I was constantly getting the 'Timed Out' message or 'Couldn't Contact Server' message until I changed my IP address. Now I'm connecting to everyone perfectly fine. Hopefully this could resolve some issues for other people as well.

Thank you, I'm gonna try this approach when I get home tonight from work.
