Race world records WTF

So I was racing and glanced at my time and noticed the world record was 23.49 seconds for a lap that took me 1.46 minutes to complete in an adder. I am 14-1 wins so not a noob. WTF.

 

I have noticed it on other races as well, anyone care to enlighten me as to how this is achieved?

Race leaderboards are always plauged with glitched times and cheaters in almost every game I've played. Nothing new, and I hope they dont spend time trying to fix it anytime soon with all the other problems abound.

To be fare I have been playing video games for over thirty years so probably racing against underage nublets has bumped my ratio up.

Cheaters. There's almost no leaderboard out there in a game which isn't filled with cheaters/hackers.

Cheaters? It is almost impossible to get online nevermind find the time to work out a cheat code or similar.
