How do you mute people? (When you don't have mic)

So I was playing last night and there were a bunch of annoying people screaming through their mics. I don't have a mic atm. As we all know you can still hear people through our TV speakers, external speakers etc. when they are on their mic. I held down select and went to chat and selected friends only, even tried no one. I still heard everyone.

 

Is there even a way to mute anyone?

they really badly need to patch this when other issues are fixed.. A way to mute all in one go would be nice

With (not trying to hate or anything) 1000 people on their staff you think somewhere along the way the idea to zone area chat would of happened, The one flaw so far in my eyes from rockstar has been this.. I don't wanna hear someone singing in their shower for RP, Tho its funny as hell i rather walk into something like that then hear it across the map!

Yeah totally agree... Sometimes can be entertaining..

The volume level is so feking annoying though!! I like my headphones on loud for the radio, but people with mic always seem to be twice as loud rapin my ears ;(

Those popups at the start of the game that give you tips and hints are there for reading.

 

 

Hold Select > scroll down and there's an option to mute ALL.

make an xbox live party (blocks ingame communications) and set it to invite only so you dont get random joins.

No, just when you are out and about roaming, hold select and it will bring up a completely different menu than the start menu. It'l have several options such as the ability to change clothes, mute people, who can use your car etc.

I've checked that menu there's no mute..? One of the options is 'Chat' which as OP stated setting to 'no one' doesn't seem to work ;/

 

- Really need an overall option somewhere on the start menu that keeps everyone muted.. When entering a mission/race whatever you hear everyone again.. ;[

I did that last night and It didn't work. I don't use a mic either. It looks like that is what that option is aimed at. Then people without mics get screwed.
