Is it possible to play online now? I know it's possible to start an invite-only session, but if I invite over some friends and we do some missions, will the progress be saved?

I just tried it and you can get friends in your session so you can mess about and rob stores, but i wasn't able to do missions or races etc.

job are still down. Joining friends is also still down. All you can do is free roam and rob stores

Solo play works, jobs is off and so is Go straight into Online or else you get stuck on a Continue screen

Actually, if you wait about 5-10 minutes, the button does work and any GTAO progress you made (if you were in a private session) will save. :)

About half an hour ago I got online to an empty lobby and when I tried to join a new session i got the dreaded 'timed locating session' message.

 

"Timed out locating session" over and over.

 

Press X to continue? Nah, that won't work either. You'll be stuck on this screen and forced to quit the game.

Basically this. I knew something was wrong when some of the people on my psn were playing the sp mode.

The status? Absolute sh*t.

 

I played an invite only session for a bit and I ended up losing ALL of my progress except my rank. I robbed a handful of stores and had a decent amount of cash in my bank.

 

Went to do a job and it ended up freezing, after that I reloaded and started inv only again. Ended up losing ALLLLL my money.

PS3 non functioning for me, can't get online and my offline is fbar'd, offline stuck on Michael (can't switch ) and freezes when close to objectives

I guess it's either 1) some server crashed or 2) some server is down for maintenance. Either way, shouldn't Rockstar keep us updated? At least tweet a little about it? The worst part about this scandal for me is that they don't keep us updated on what's going on...

I agree. It was fine for most of the day and suddenly it seems to be down for everyone. They should keep us informed, even if just in the vaguest sense.

I logged into online today to find a good chunk of my previous progress (cars, money, ammo, clothes) lost. I also couldn't join matches or play with anyone, invite only was the only thing that worked.

 

Played for an hour, quit the game, came back and sure enough, lost the progress I had made. Very frustrating.

 

I also keep getting notifications that I can change my appearance if I want but it will be the only time I can do so, except I've seen that message like 4 times now.
