Has anyone lost a character that was created 'After' the patch

Since the PS3 got the patch earlier (Haven't heard of it dropping on the Xbox yet) I was wondering if anyone had created and lost a character since the patch was released.

 

I don't mind servers being down for extended periods of time and I can live with rollbacks to a certain degree, but once I've created a character and am happy with the look, then got a nice car, pimped it out a little, it's just very disheartening for it all to vanish without a trace.

 

I'm Loving the game so far and the brief time I spent online was excellent, but I'm not exactly overjoyed at the thought of having to start yet another character only for it to vanish into the mists of time again.

No, my character is still alive and kickin on Rank 17. Has anyone tried contacting Rockstar about this?

The character I made b4 the patch just got deleted after playing for a couple of hours. Major bummer.

Yes I lost my character this morning that I created last night - then made a new one today and am playing on it.

So (assuming characters arn't just "temporarily" vanishing due to the cloud playing silly buggers) characters that were created Before the patch are still vanishing, but (so far, with only a few replies) characters created After the patch haven't vanished (yet).

I think the OP asked specifically if anyone lost a character which was created after the patch. I would very much like an answer to this also because I am at work at the moment and currently have no character because all previous ones got deleted.

 

So if I update with the patch tonight and create a new character, i would like to know if the character will be permanent or not. Because if not, then I will just drive around and kill other players. But if the character is permanent, then I will drive around and kill other players.

i wouldnt think anything about that... the patch hasnt been live for that long and the characters are deleted after you log out for awhile... give it time.. by tonight well know for sure as people will have lost their characters since then.

I've created my character again as I was relying on the patch to restore him... I'm pretty annoyed that even though I was connected (and still am) to the cloud servers, it didn't save!

Lets hope this bug is fixed. Losing a character isn't that big of a deal for me. I just want to know, so I can gauge whether I should just screw around in free roam, or actually level up

I created a character after the patch and logged out of the server into single player and my character is still here. I have just left my ps3 on all day and not quit the game encase I lose my character again

i created a char last night and played for lil bit. updated new patch today and cash and char are still there if that helps. ill fire it up again soon and see if he still there lol

 

hope so as i dont wanna go through that damn tutorial again

Made a Character this morning since the one I had last night was gone. Played for about an hour then logged off. Just tried to play him again and he's gone, so much for expecting Rockstar to fix anything.

But what if your connection times out or the social cloud goes down and because you were onlie you will be glitched and your char lost?

Have created a character since the patch as it failed to return my old ones. So far, i've been able to log off and restart my system with no loss of character or cash. Hopefully it stays that way!

So far prior to 2.0 my Character has not been deleted, I signed out like

• Pause
• Online
• Leave GTA Online

Turned my PS3 off and my character is still there, but bearing in mind it was like this yesterday and as soon as the night came I lost him again, so only time will tell for me.

We all know the first one didnt work or fix characters, We are questioning whether (Update 2.0) deletes your characters still, or whatever makes them disappear.

I just lost my character once again (ps3), game patched to 1.2..I invited a friend to a mission, we both got stuck at the loading part, i quit to XML after 5 minutes, restarted the game and it was gone..Money still there though, so yes you can still lose ur characters.

 

edit: character was made after the patch was installed!

I have asked for an update on this in my own helpdesk ticket also, since in the last one was only a canned response to the other known issues but nothing regarding this problem. I will post here if I should get a proper answer.

Well guys, I say we wait for another update that specifically says it covers character deletion.

I'm not giving up until Rockstar specifically tells my I lost Reaper forever.
