This is not a hate topic or anything like this, I love both games but i'm still trying to see what I think is the best one. IMO the ending in RDR was amazing and GTA V's was a little dissapointing. Both games are masterpieces in their own way but which one is better?

I say RDR for the win. Best game I'd played for a long time. V isn't on that scale for me.

Yeah, RDR just blew me away and I hate to say this but I thought the game looked crap at first because I was stupid and I never looked into the game at all, boy what a shock I got when I played that game. GTA V is amazing but it just didn't blow me away as much as RDR and I mean the ending in RDR was just wow.

I think that RDR is much better than GTA V.

RDR actually has a great story and fun gameplay. GTA V...ok story with frustrating game play.

GTA V didn't have me on the edge of my seat during the climax moments within the story. RDR did. Nothing will beat RDR. Every artist, band, etc. had that moment where they create something that blows people away, and Rockstar had that moment with RDR

RDR is my all time favourite game, it's a masterpiece. GTA V on the other hand.. Let's just say RDR for me was Rockstar Games' all time high.

We can't fight change, we can't fight gravity, we can't fight nothin' John. My whole life, all I did was fight...

Make this into a poll. I'm really not sure, I really believe RDR is the game of the decade. Just a master piece. But I love GTA V and in my mind I want it to be better because I've hyped over it for so long. Urgh. It's so hard to decide.

I'll decide for you, it is the game of the generation. lol. Maybe The Last of Us is close but it's lack of Jose Gonzalez' Far Away is not helping it.

RDR, better atmosphere and an awesome game imo (one of my favourite games). I like V too, but I don't have the great feeling that I had when I played RDR and RDR multiplayer. Damn I liked my zebra donkey.

RDR had a better story, but GTA V has a better free roam experience. both are two of the best games I own.

To add to what I said earlier - Since GTA V pretty much left me out in the cold, I recently started my second play-through of RDR, and my oh my it is as engaging and amazing as ever. The story buildup, the dialogue, the scenery, the details, the atmosphere - everything.

In all honesty I do believe over hype contributes towards peoples feelings towards V, if that isn't obvious enough. With RDR, it didn't have nearly as much hype. I can only speak for myself here but I started playing RDR not expecting something so amazing - it was a strange concept and I really wasn't sure if it would work. (As it is considered a "GTA game but with cow boys and horses")

But now I really see it as being a game to go down in history, certainly more then V ever will.

Hard to really say. I liked Red Dead for the feeling it gave you being in the wild west. I did not find the storyline all that moving to say the least. In the end you could basically say it's Grand Theft Auto on horses. My only beef with it was the game was far too short. Rockstar could easily make a RPG type western game like that.

GTA 5 reminded me of Red Dead more than anything. Must have been the easy controls.

Both games are epic in their own right, and very evenly matched. That being said, I have a new sense of appreciation for RDR because it definitely has a deeper story that is much like a fine wine. It is meant to be taken in at a leisurely pace, while taking in the beauty of the environment set in a time long past.

For those of us who enjoy a good western, it is all the more enjoyable. RDR simply does more with less, and it never loses it's grip in terms of character or story. I look forward to a sequel.

While I feel that RDR is like a fine wine, GTAV is more like an all out blitz on the senses. It's a shot of adrenaline that instantly grabs your attention by force. It does so many things at a high level of intensity, that it doesn't allow you to lose interest at any point in the game. The story is nowhere near the seriousness of RDR, nor are any of the characters as deep as John Marston. We CARED about Marston, because he was NOBLE.

That being said, GTAV's characters were perfect for the setting of Los Santos, and the story that is simply meant to bring you an over the top experience that never drags. GTAV delivers what it is meant to deliver, which is a fun experience that is really meant to show off the TRUE hero of the game, the ENVIRONMENT.

The map is large, beautiful, and full of detail. GTAV is also designed for a much longer experience in terms of replay value, and will push the limits of online console gaming. The verdict isn't even final, and GTAV has already cemented it's place in history.

In the end, nostalgia is a powerful feeling, and only gets stronger with time. Years from now people will have a bigger appreciation for GTAV.

I CANNOT pick one over the other. There's nothing wrong with a tie in my opinion.

I'm stuck between Vice City or RDR as R*'s best game.
