Looting other players?

I've been playing as a good guy with no griefing or killing for no reason.

However, some little punk was after me for ages, he stole my car after trying to kill me. I tracked him down in Los Santos and killed him... Yet he dropped no money?

Just wondered how this worked, I was led to believe you could loot other players.

Also the 4-5 times I've been killed with money on me by randomers, I've not dropped any except on hospital bills.

you only drop money over 5k... you always drop 100$ no matter what... if you have more than 5k on you anything over that is dropped... if you have 30k and get killed you drop 25k of it...

most people however deposit their money before they reach 5k.. the game even warns you to deposit it once you reach 5k so its pretty hard to miss.

that might change with heists.. dont know how much money they would give.

itl say something like "you are currently carrying more than 5k and other players can steal it from you despoit the money to prevent theft" or something like that.

Kind of stupid IMHO.

With the ease of internet banking and then even if you forget to do that, you can't lose the money you have (if it's under 5k)

Rockstar should make it more dangerous when not in passive mode.

This isn't true, me and my friends tested it out.

If you have less than $100, you drop nothing.

If you have anything over $100, you will always drop exactly $100. It isn't a percentage, just always $100. I tested this with around $6'500 and I only dropped $100 (not $1500),

As it costs $100 to enter passive mode, there really isn't any point.

As I said, if you have less than $100 you don't drop anything.

I made a thread earlier pretty much identical to this. People seem to be spouting the thing about the over 5k thing but it is bullsh*t. I have tested it several times now and you DO NOT lose all of your money except 5k. I have been killed with well over 10k and still only drop $100.

Not sure where this rumour started to be honest.

Probably from.....

The message you get that ROCKSTAR put into their game. Not everyone want to try it out, so a lot of people don't even risk it.
