Just Not Enough to Keep You Engaged After Story Conclusion

OK, I just played through a second time, to try alternate story options and to maximize dollars. After completing the story, of course you have the assassination missions to tend to and to manage the stock market angle of same. At completion, you go buy EVERYTHING because you have more money than you know what to do with. All properties, all cars and other vehicles you desire, clothes, etc. You're left with the most boring side missions and nothing else. Playing tennis, golf, whatever. Point being, I've had some games last me a year like Battlefield 3, and even Rocksttar's Red Dead Redemption because of DLC. But I'm not really hearing anything about any DLC just the thus far FUBAR'ed online system.

So, I presume, since working through single player doesn't take fforever, that the whole ballgame for longevity will be online. If and when they get it operating correctly?

But I'm not really hearing anything about any DLC

Because the game was released all of 17 days ago. I mean buddy, c'mon, you flew through the game twice in a matter of two weeks.

GTA IV was released April 2008 with the first DLC (TLAD) releasing in February of 2009, ten months later. TBOGT was released an additional eight months after that in October of 2009.

Expect the first news of V DLC around next summer, IF that.

Fair enough, but sad you can blow through the story twice in two weeks then be standing there bored.

All they would've had to do was add realistic bicycle controls/tricks. Or useable skateboards. Or useable surfboards. Or basic video game controls/parkour physics....

That's one aspect, the extreme sport/open world aspect, that could've supplied endless hours of entertainment for tons of people who have been expecting it for over a decade. Stuff that existed in their previous games and on previous systems, and which appeared to be in this game through the way it was advertised...

They even sponsored an actual bmx company/team for years, but still left the controls as bad as they were in their first iteration...

And there are speedruns available on youtube where this guy beat GTA3 in about 1 hour 19 minutes and Vice City in about an hour and a half.

I'm sure he didn't have the most engaging experience during those runs, arguably they were performed with an entirely different goal in mind but still.

Most video games can be beat in a very quick amount of time.

Arkham City and Arkham Asylum have both been beat in under 2 hours, Mass Effect a little over 2 hours I think, and according to a speed gaming website, GTA IV has been beat in a record 4 hours 23 minutes.

See the point I'm getting at? Take your time bro. Life is short enough and you're making it go by even faster.

Winston Smith

Seriously, go do something else with your life once in a while. I thought I played a lot and I'm only 50% in. O.o
