ATM or internet banking?

Max you can submit is 10,000 via internet banking, any higher and it takes all your cash but only deposits 10k and deletes the rest (pretty sure this is a bug but still)

Honestly, I'm thihnking that the whole "being able to deposit and withdraw from your phone" thing might be a bug, or at least an unintended feature. As you say, it COMPLETELY invalidaes a pretty cool mechanic (having to make ATM runs to keep your money safe).

 

As it is right now, you have no excuse to ever have any cash on you whatsoever, and that kind of kills that whole mechanic.

Not true, at least not of last night. I deposited over 80k via my phone at one time (after a string of missions), with no problems.

People will just constantly crowd round ATM's and kill anyone who attends.

I do the online thing almost immediately after a mission, rob a store, whatever. I'm not sure R* intended for me to this, and I, too wonder if it's a bug. If they decide to "fix" it, all I have to say is ATM's need map icons then.

same deposited over 100k last night all at once via online banking while in free roam after we did a bunch of missions.

It is absolutely not a bug that you can do this from your phone. They even have one of those on-screen tips while you're loading in that suggests depositing via your phone to avoid getting robbed at the ATM.

It would be total chaos if everyone had to use ATMs. People would just camp for hours near the more popular ones

Anyway, you can already choose the nearest ATM as a waypoint (when holding select). I think this is enough

Yeah, there is already enough clutter on the map as it is.

 

And I think we should be limited to depositing a certain amount per in game day via online banking. This way, newer players wont be hitting the cap as often, making their game time feel rewarding. And the players who are raking in cash likely can defend themselves and make it to one of the various atms around.

Cheers guys and definitely would prefer it if there was a reason you should choose ATM's; would add an element of risk.

 

As mentioned by above posters I just immediately deposit any cash gained from robberies or missions after I've lost the cops/finished.

I dont like that you can deposit with the phone. I was enoying every drive to ATM Before i noticed that you could do it with your phone. Now i find them pointless! And it eliminate the hole idea of robbing and losing cash from other players. And if you Think a Little abut realism? how do you get the hard Cold cash in to your digital phone? At a ATM Money deposit makes sence! I realy hope they fix this in some way. And this is sayd from a player that not planning on robbing other players, ust want to have back that lovly feling when i had some cash in my pokets and wanted to get them to safty asap :)

Not true just deposited 50k and had no problem

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

If it wasn't intended then there wouldn't be an in-game tip telling you to do it. It's not a bug or something Rockstar overlooked. However it does make the ATM's totally useless and before I knew about the phone the ATM runs were usually done in Passive Mode so there was no way anyone could kill me other than by car. It was still kind of tense when I had a lot of money on me.

Ive never had issue with camped ATMs, there appear to be PLENTY of them, just check the map for player blips nearby, no different then checking out the bank when hitting an ATM after hours in the real world. Pretty easy to make smart banking decisions IMO.

hunting for atm's is a pain. :/

You can easily set it for gps from the interaction menu? Is there some other difficulty I'm missing?

id rather not get robbed by some punk whos like 6 years old level 99999999999213292193290 due to farming just cause he can .ive already had my charcter lost cause of this cloud bsthe last thing I need is to lose what little pathetic cash the game pays on missions im able to acess

It's not hard to find a clear, safe ATM, it's just I don't see a point in going to one when you can do all your banking business from your phone. I don't even see a point in adding ATMs except for the newbies who don't know about online banking.

And thats an entirely valid reason. I use both, but certainly dont let other players dictate. I find the phone banking a little more tedious as its more clicking to do and x to exit. Simpler at an atm, but is a matter of which is considered more tedious at thst moment.

To be honest I don't see why cash isn't a 'bank' account automatically from jobs etc, except from cash you pick up. Like an automatic debit card system when you buy things.

I notice that ATM's load screens faster, whereas there's a 2 second page loading when using your phone, however using your phone anywhere greatly outweighs the short delay.
