I'm glad you made this thread @OP. I just wanted to further add that I think R* should include two different versions of free roam.

 

1.) Friendly fire turned on: Anything goes, everyone for themselves. You are allowed to shoot other players. If you decide to kill each other and destroy someone's personal vehicle/property, you don't get points toward bad sport.

 

2.) Friendly fire turned off: You can't shoot another player. However, if you manage to kill someone or destroy their personal cars/property, you get points toward bad sport. In addition, you won't have to waste money on passive mode.

 

This is basically the same thing we had in GTA IV but include the bad sport system, depending on which mode you're playing at the time. That way the people who just want to kill in free mode and won't stick to deathmatch can go in option #1. For those of us who prefer to play without doing that and just want to team up and play the game, we can go in option #2.
