NPC placed a $5000 bounty on me

Not sure about that. You can definitely wait the bounty out in solo mode and it will earn yoou the money.

Question, if an npc can place a bounty, why aren't there simply random bounties on npc's in free roam? Honestly the more I find out about the game while playing the more I think most of the project managers at Rockstar were stoned and not thinking clearly when they came up with some of this stuff....still loving the game, but you just gotta say...hmmmm.

Yeah same thing happened to me the other day. I needed a ride asap and noticed this gorgeous car parked up on the side of the road, so I got in it and bam! I had a NPC bounty placed on my head..

So after finishing robbing a store i had to get away from the police so i stole a car driven by a npc , shortly after evading the police i got a message from Unknown saying "You took my ride! you'll be on a slab soon." and i got a $5000 bounty

This is annoying too. Just rockstar penalizing you for not using a personal vehicle

This is only annoying to the players who think they should be allowed to go around and jack any vehicle they want.

 

Drive your own car, get insurance, keep repairing and replacing and spending hard-earned money on it? Sounds like real life to me. Remind me again why this game is called Grand Theft Auto???

 

EDIT: I only play GTA0 Solo, so I assume these bounties don't matter? I have not seen any NPCs coming after me so far.

 

EDIT 2: I never use my own car in GTA0 Solo; I always jack one when needed. Every time I totally trash it getting away from the cops, I say, "I'm glad this is not my car," in Niko's voice.

yup, got ran over by accident. got mad, dragged the b*tch outta her car and slapped her a few times. after she died i shot her in the face, took her money and her car. a minute later got a text saying i`m done for but the weird thing was i killed her.

THAT is HILARIOUS. I remember Niko saying that.

Sometimes I go into 'invite only' or solo, but particularly when I want to do car deliveries for Simeon and don't want the other players to interfere.

Mind you ~ I never EVER go looking for them: if it's not within a block - and parked - I don't bother. I prefer to do it only when I find a car I like and he happens to want it. Shake the cops if necessary (the sewer tunnel under the Arcadius building is really great for hiding) .. then go prepare the vehicle and hope it makes the trip to the docks in one piece.

I seem to get bounty's more often in Blaine County than in Los Santos,

it happens to me almost everytime i steal an npc car. i got in the habit of pulling the driver, executing him/her and then taking the car and the bounties stopped

I steal vehicles in front of my garage back and forth over and over until it happens so I will get a bounty. Usually less than 5 nic's will do it but always less than 10. They can tell who you are the same way every other player can tell who and where you are. The ones who come after you are more likely to do it. You can still be reported even if you kill them, although its much less likely.

Try enabling passive mode before stealing a car. I've never received a bounty when jacking a car in passive mode.
