NPC placed a $5000 bounty on me

So after finishing robbing a store i had to get away from the police so i stole a car driven by a npc , shortly after evading the police i got a message from Unknown saying "You took my ride! you'll be on a slab soon." and i got a $5000 bounty

 

Has this ever happened to anyone?

Yeah, $3000 bounty on me however, if you stay alive you'll gain some xp, which should be easy if you're in solo, takes a while though.

I got one in closed free roam, on 1000$, from a NPC, because i stole his car.

Yeah this happend to me yesterday. Decided to get a helicopter and fly around to get the achievment for surviving a day with a bounty on your head. Bounty was $3000.

cool that you get Bountys from NPCs Havent happend to me yet tho. Havent noticed that other players have Bountys ethier. I Think the information/ Icons are a Little to smal and hard to see.

Question, if an npc can place a bounty, why aren't there simply random bounties on npc's in free roam? Honestly the more I find out about the game while playing the more I think most of the project managers at Rockstar were stoned and not thinking clearly when they came up with some of this stuff....still loving the game, but you just gotta say...hmmmm.

For me at least, if i survived 24 hours in-game whilst npc bounty is on my head i got the bounty. $3k.

 

I heard it's possibly from someone who's car i jacked..

the icon goes red when someone has a bounty on them if you dont know

They really want you to drive and keep track of your own vehicle. I love this feature. I've made so much money from bounties.

 

Car Jacker - "Gime you car bi*ch." *5 seconds later* "Dafuq, I got a bounty on me? Who put a bounty on me?"

 

Me - *mumbling and giggling to myself* "Dumbass, I'm coming for you."

 

*I kill said dumbass*

 

Car Jacker - "Yo WTF you, (insert insult). Why'd you kill me?"

 

Me - "Nothing personal. It's just business."

 

*Car Jacker starts chasing me around. I warn em to leave me alone and that it was just business*

 

Car Jacker - "F8CK YOU!!! I'm going to kill you!!!"

 

*I kill Car Jacker 2-3 times. It reads over my radar... Car Jacker left.*

This is only annoying to the players who think they should be allowed to go around and jack any vehicle they want.
