How to avoid free-roam griefers.

From Single Player,

 

- Press start.

- Go to 'Online',

- Select 'Play GTA Online'

- Choose how you want to play 'invite only', 'solo', 'crew only', 'friends only'

 

When in one of the above servers you can still search for a job (i.e. mission / deathmatch etc) that you'll go straight to.

When that has finished you either stay with those folks and play another or if you come out, you get returned to the server you started in (i.e. private)

 

I'm lvl 12 with 110k in the bank, rarely die and play the missions I want... Absolutely loving it without some random waiting outside a shop blowing my tires out... If I wanted to play deathmatch I'd go play deathmatch... I still get to join people for everything else in the game, I just don't hang around public free-roam servers

 

Funny thing is, someone stuck a bounty on me yesterday, I don't play in public free-roam so I will collect the bounty and the cheevo.

 

People just driving round free-roam is pointless imo, it'll take forever to level up and surely becomes boring as fook...? Just personal opinio.

 

BUT, this is GTA, it's about causing havoc and being a PITA. Do what you want, that's the point. I'm just glad there are ways to avoid it and play the game how you want.

Eh. I just man up and outdrive/outshoot them. They're usually terrible at it. Plus, I get their money. It's like trying to rob someone, only to have them turn around and rob you instead. It's extremely gratifying.

But yeah, for those that can't hack it, or simply want to play alone or with friends, do what he says up there.

Cant like this post because I have ran out, but if I could I would. Sound advice there and it's what I always do. I can go to clothes stores, do missions, robberies etc without having a douchebag spoiling my fun.

 

I do miss seeing other players driving around but meh, I can live with it until I unlock better weapons.

Lol yea you would think all the people moaning would be on this. Im starting to play on invite only etc, it is fun going round with other people though.... I'd like to shoot a few people lol but I don't wanna start a flat out war and lose loads of money haha. (This has already happened lol)

GTA IV had a better implementation of how the online should work. Being able to set your settings to join "Friendly Fire Off" only matches in free roam was perfect. Sure, you could still kill others but it took some work and ingenouity. And it didn't stop you from interacting with the enviroment, so you could still have shootouts with the cops and whatnot. It just kept you somewhat safe from morons.

 

So far, I can't say I'm overly impressed with how GTA Online is set up. Losing money and weapons when you die? (I've lost all my pistol ammo numerous times and my shotguns completely.) GAH!!!

 

I get where they're coming from but it's a bit too frustrating at times. I'll put more time into it, for sure, but I can see this getting old fast. A shame because I had expected better, and that's my fault, not Rockstar's. It's ok but definitely not great. IMO.

Well within 2 mins of finishing the "drug" Mission and headed for a Clothing store i was getting shot at.No Idea by whom,so i got in the car and went north,sorted.Now i have a wee bit of decent weaponry i am more that capable of handling nobbers like this,still if thats how they get their kicks its a shame!LOL

Play in Closed Crew/Friends sessions only. I do it ALL the time. I have had no one mess with me since day 1. I avoid the public open sessions at all costs because the ONE time I joined one I was killed while my game was loading.
