welps, for the peeps in my situation suffering from character resets over and over

im gna start a new one and after i finish tutorial, ill restart the game and let it load back up to see if the character is still there, ill post my conclusions onto here

Well if it is a CLOUD thing that makes characters disappear i think it will be a CLOUD thing that will make the reappear....

No. Nothing changed for me. Still unplayable. Always getting timeouts or that cloud thing if I want to join a game.

Wow... I decided to just start over. First thing I got after finishing the race was a Timeout. Now I can´t connect to any Server anymore...AT ALL

Well I press OKAY top update and my ps3 freezes, confused and annoyed.

Console probably freezes when exiting the game to download the update. So try to cancel the update, and enter online to get the message if you want to download it again, and then try to download. Maybe the console manages to exit the game propperly.

 

Usually works with other games.

So far so good on the PS3 version. Seeing more players joining sessions and jobs, a lot more past the race part of the tutorial. Character still isn't restored, finishing this last mission of the tutorial to see if it erases this one as well.

My character didnt come back, so im doing the same thing. At least i could play the first race, hopefully this one saves.

wells, the way the game starts is a whole alot better so far, that screen that says waiting for other players and such and just shows the city in blur and such actually has a menu that shows up now, telling you you have to wait about 30 seconds and shows all the players racing with you(which is only lamar) the loading is alot faster now..

OKAY SO I STARTED A NEW GAME, BEATED THE RACE.. I RESTARTED THE GAME TO SEE IF MY CHARACTER IS THERE, AND YES MY CHARACTER IS THERE FROM THE RECENT FILE I JUST MADE

so to all people waiitng on their characters, i doubt they will come back because i been waiitng 48 hours on mines and it never showed up, my best guess is patch 1.02 cleaned up all the bugs and such, so if i were you whos waiitng on my character, start a new 1 and just work from there... im not saying this will work for every1? but it sure did for me, im quite depressed over my character didnt come back but y'know i cant waste my time dwelling on it, good luck to every1 on there

one thing i would like to adress that is a little odd is when i loaded back up my character, the car i chose to race with seems to change colors, i chose a blue color, but it appears black now, it doesnt bother me but im just throwing it out there

Sorry, a stupid question. Ive now got the drugs and beaten the first race, should i now restart ps3 and come back, so i can see if my character is saved? Thanks in advance!

So, after completing the tutorial fully on a new character, I left the online mode, going back to single player. And from there exited and restarted my PS3. Signing back in, my new character is still there. I hope this helps somebody. Seems stable for now. But you never know.

By the way, I'd also like to add. When I lost my old character it was from me having to turn off the PS3 from the back, and not the normal way. I've also seen other posts saying they lost their character upon their console freezing. This might be the cause of this, unless, it's happening to people randomly.

to be honest if i was you i wouldn't, i mean if you would like to, why not but im tryna save you time because my past days of playing gta5 online, whenever i would restart the game, it'll be gone when i loaded it back up, this time i loaded it back up and my character is there.. i wouldnt if i was you like i said, have fun!

Downloaded the new title update for PS3 and now I was able to get past the first race with no problem. I'll try matchmaking later today..

Yes, if you can't, just try restarting the game a few times.

The new patch made things even worse for me. Now I can't even get past the first mission cutscene. Always crashes halfway into it.

Got it to work, but had to uninstall both updates then install them both again.

 

So my PS3 froze, held down power button to reset, deleted patch 1.01 & tried again with success & no freezing. loaded up & single player all seems to be there, still haven't tested online yet.
