When I click to install, it just goes to a black screen and freezes the ps3. Cannot do anything but switch it off at the power.

 

 

Wait like 30 seconds before you press x to continue with the update

My character is still missing.

A client side patch would never have brought your character back, but hopefully now the game learns to save

 

 

Just try to get to the Character Selection Screen, then log out of your PSN Account, go back to the Game itself and it will prompt you to login again. Do that and (at least it did for me!) you might have your Character back!

At least that´s what I tried and it seems to work.

In that case, the issue has been with how some clients have been requesting the wrong save ID's from rockstar servers, ill give it a shot now and see how it goes.

Gonna sound like a dumbass here, how do I log out of my PSN account while in a game without it quitting the game entirely?

I tried to reboot my console and see if the Problem is completely fixed now but once I got back into the Game my Character was missing again.

I guess that was just a lucky shot.

Sorry... thought it works now though.

Press PS Button, go to account management on PSN and press triangle, click sign out.

Press the Home Button, get to your PSN Tab and press Triangle to sign out of your Account.

 

But as I stated a minute ago... it probably just was another "lucky shot" and it is not guaranteed to work.
