What determines which country server you connect too ?

Is there data on the disk or perhaps which country your PSN details are set too ?

 

Or does the game detect your I.P and puts you in a server when its detected your country ?

 

Im asking this as I have recently moved to Australia from England and my PSN details are set to the UK..

 

Will this affect which server I connect too ? My Gta copy and ps3 are both australian.

 

I was told server connection data is stored on the disk ?

Why don't you join and ask where people are from?
Hell, even listen, the two accents are very different.

I'd honestly say that's your best bet.
I reckon you'll be connecting to Aussie based servers.

Couldn't say but I'm in the UK and it seems every server I've joined I'm playing with people who live on the moon. I'm usually good at picking up accents and languages but I honestly don't know where some of these people are from, their voices through their mics are all muffled and hard to understand too. It's as if I'm being placed in the wrong server for my region and I'm playing with people from the other side of the world, in which case no wonder I'm having problems with connectivity.

Europe here but i mostly get Americans (Or people from the Moon with Muffled Voices) in my Rooms

From my limited but sure knowledge of networking in gaming I can assure you it will be IP based, determining your location by disk or console would be very stupid. Also it's location based, not just within the boundaries of your country. In many online games it recognises that I'm from south England to about 10 miles misaccuracy by my IP and throws me in French or Dutch servers.

 

It's a shame modern games won't show you your ping.

Im just hoping itll match make me to a server to australia. Experiences from gta iv were bad as i kept connecting to other countries giving the cars horrible lag

I think it's based on your IP-address (or the location where you are currently, either one). So if you were e.g. from USA and moved to Russia, you'd get into servers with more Russians than Americans.

 

Or as OP moved to England, he'd get British people more often than Australians. -> Or vice versa. Yes I added this late, because curse my poor reading comprehension.
