How to quit safely?

well i ain't been on today but i have been going back to single player before turning my console off

yeah thanks just noticed it says "your gta online progress will be automatically saved when you exit"

I just use the character wheel and swap back to Michael when I'm done. It's been working perfectly so far.

I swapped characters. Lost all day's work, about 400k worth. Pretty sweet.

I think the safe way it to press Pause or whatever the button is for Menu, go to Online and choose "Leave Onlne". Always works for me + that is suggested in a hint/tip in the loading screen.

The methods mentioned so far are all proper ways to exit. However they make no difference as to whether your stuff get saved or not. That is purely down to server access & data replication issue.

 

Think of it as a minigame. How much do I want to gamble on my save today?
