Not just from free-roam, but from all online game modes. No player character should be auto-aimed.

In most online games, the winner of the fight is the one that can bring their crosshairs to aim on the enemy the fastest. Especially with such a low time-to-kill.

Right now, with the auto-aim, the person who wins is not the person waiting for their enemy, not the person who carefully decides his movements and comes around corners with his gun already up and aimed, but the person that sprints around the bloody corner and stabs the left trigger, followed by the right trigger.

Hell, if you've got a pistol maybe you'll add a little dip of the right thumbstick to make sure you hit them in the head before you stab the right trigger.

There's no skill involved. Period. It all comes down 'press left trigger, press right trigger'. And everything else is timing. Don't press the left trigger too soon or the game will forget to hold your hand!

I don't bother playing deathmatch because it's completely garbage with this system. Not to mention the constant UAV-style map with icons showing you where everyone is. But that's another gripe for another day.

Killing another PLAYER, in any online game mode, should require skill.

Not timing.

Not auto-aiming.

Skill.

The handholding really needs to stop.

....or you could just play with other free-aim only players?

I've heard people say that there is a system in place that allows you to play with people who have the same SP aim settings as you do - so that if you have free-aim set in SP, you'll only be paired with people who have the same.

If this isn't the case, i'd be all for this to happen, as opposed to totally removing assisted aim. I agree that it really has no place in a competitive PvP environment, but no reason why it shouldn't be allowed in PvE.

I haven't seen any documentation of this anywhere. And even so, are deathmatch lobbies created on this same principle? Are PvE missions made with the same thoughts in mind? PvE I'm all for auto-aim. I use it to gun down cops willy-nilly. But it's artificially removing any semblence of skill from PvP. I don't want to free-aim in PvE missions, especially not when the enemies all have laser-accurate weapons that can hit you and kill you from fifty metres away no problem. Especially not with the acceleration that R* has in freeaim.

I haven't seen anything official, just mention of it in various threads here.

Completely agree - as I said though, i'd much rather a system like I mentioned implemented as opposed to getting rid of assisted aim completely.

Just because you make a petition doesn't mean Rockstar is going to remove it. You gotta be a dumbass to think that.

If enough people sign off on it, it could get heard.

But it looks like the hand-holding scrubs are strong in this game, judging from the current votes.

Pretty sure the thing going around is true about free aim players all being put in servers together. One, if a friend has auto aim on and you are free aim, or vice-versa, joining their server brings up a prompt notifying you that either your settings were changed automatically or you need to change them to continue. Also, I have been playing online, free roam, deathmatches, etc. the last two days now and can safely say that everyone I've encountered definitely did not have auto aim because some people are just absolute horrible shots and practically no one ever hits the first shot ever. It's pretty clear auto aim is off.

I'm definitely going to try that then.

Do you know if the same holds true for deathmatch games? Is it the host-preference that decides what the entire lobby uses?

Really? Auto-aim is easy? Harder than free aim matches.

Now, before you gaming elites come in with pitchforks and torches, hold the f*ck up. OP pretty much tells you why. It's a mode where everyone can be good, meaning you do have to plan out things alot better.

You better hope you aren't seen, because then it's a mode of who can get the hit first. And that's challenging. You need to use the enviorment to your advantage, and be stealthy as all hell.

Now, free aim is also challenging. You always actually need to AIM there. But I mean, both can be very damn compeitive.

You guys know that your online aiming preference is what ever you choose in single player. If you join a free roam or job that is either traditional or assisted, it will tell you it's going to change your aiming preference.

It's really not that hard to understand and it eliminates the clutter of having separate servers but still separating players who choose different preferences.

If you go into settings and turn off auto aim in your controls, you will always be put into disallow games.

It is true, free aim players are put with free aim players. We tested this yesterday. I went to single player and put aim assist on, I then sent an invite to my friend who had free aim on. The game told him if he were to join my session his aim would be changed to aim assist.

I can confirm that changing your single player settings to free aim does infact work.

Been doing it today and it works like a charm, only played against other free aimers

I like the auto aim...

Everyone can use it so its not unfair in any way, its a matter of who see's another person first and can react and control the recoil on the weapon they decide to use. It's a game after all...

Auto Aim is kind-of needed in this game, let's face it, the aiming is sh*t.

Although it shouldn't be in deathmatch modes or the like, and it should be able to be turned off by the host.

When it's balanced, and everyone has the same targeting system, it's fair and skill is still required. Stop being butthurt because you can't 'press left trigger, press right trigger' fast enough.

I get the feeling he doesn't want to be paired with others who can free aim but rather have people who can't free aim be forced to.

free aim on consoles suck ballsack, but i think you should be able to use it if you want and only be paired against others who use it. assisted aim sucks also, only actually locking on about half the time during my single player game, havent got connected to online much yet so im not sure if it actually works there or is as bugged as it is in single player but im mostly a pc gamer except for GTA and I wont be using free aim on a sh*t console game cause I dont play enough to be able to use a sh*tty little stick that barely moves to aim with any degree of accuracy, pc with a mouse im free aim only, haha!

hahah oh god i hope this is sarcasm

Well ill stick to my free aim servers,

1. More fun

2. More skill based (even tho i suck at shooting)

3. When i kill someone i actually feel a sense of accomplishment., other than just... "meh".

4. Server is not full of 14 year old( god honest truth, on auto aim servers i hear nothing but whiny sh*t kids). On free aim ive only met adults, who uses voice chat, does missions, and in general are much much nicer to play with.

and 5: ALLOT less people just driving around shooting at anything that moves.

I have been really out of the loop this week, so before I give my opinion I am going to ask a question.

Do freeaim players stick to freeaim lobbies? Or can players with different aim settings play with eachother.

If they can play with eachother than I think Rockstar needs to get rid of that sh*t ASAP. Completely defeats the purpose of an online competitiveness. Pretty much means the first person to see you and who has the best weapon wins.

If the lobbies are separate, I think it should still be removed EXCEPT for private lobbies. Im usually the guy who says let there be an option so people can play the way they like. But I think its kind of absurd to have auto aim in any multiplayer mode and it really doesnt belong.

MP3 didnt have auto aim option did it??

As far as a friend has told me... Auto-Aim can be active and deactive by the player, for himself. They're no servers right now that have "No Auto-Aim" yet.

Hope you understand with my bad grammar.. Had rhinoplasty surgery today... Kind of loopy right now.

Freeaim isn't all the reliable anyway so I don't have an issue with it. The people who are good will stand out regardless of which they use
