COMING FROM A FAN WHO'S NOT YET SET FOOT IN THIS GENERATIONS LOS SANTOS IM STILL ON THE OUTSIDE WITH THE EXPECTATIONS THAT THIS WILL BE THE BIGGEST CITY MAP WE HAVE EVER PLAYED NOT EVEN CLOSE BY FAR. OBVIOUSLY THE MAP LOOKS TINY AS SH*T BUT THAT MEANS LITTLE WITHOUT KNOWING THE SCALE ITS ON COMPARED TO THE OTHER TERRITORY.

SO ALL-TOGHETHER ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH THE CITY OF LOS SANTOS' SIZE LIKE YOU EXPECTED TO BE BEFORE THE GAME CAME OUT.

yea Los Santos is really big. there are quite a few desert towns also, not to mention all of the other desert and countryside area.

THE MAP IS MASSIVE

THE CITY IS BIGGER THEN THE ONE IN SAN ANDREAS BUT THE COUNTRY SIDE IS STILL MASSIVELY BIGGER

THAT IS ALL!

I definitely feel like it was big enough. I've seen a lot of people saying that the map of SA felt bigger, but cars/motortbikes etc. were a lot slower in SA. In V, even with the much faster vehicles, the map still feels massive.

City Size is too small

Other small towns are a nice touch but also too small - overall great though - If this game comes to PC -

It will reach its full potential

R* or others in this forum like to count the ocean floor and sides of the mountains as fun playable "land mass" technically they are true - but its waisted space IMO

so yea not as big as others but really big and has good variation of scenery etc .

Area-wise, the city is larger than Liberty City in IV. However, it does seem a lot smaller, primarily due to the fact that most of it is freeway and it really doesn't take you very long to get about in it. Liberty City was, by far, a much more interesting city as regards to different areas, landmarks, buildings and so forth. It also seemed more alive, more populated and traffic was more dense. The peds were funnier than in V. Many people complained that Liberty City was a dead shell of a city, but I feel that Los Santos is more of an empty shell than LC - I just don't find all that freeway appealing. LC had a lot more character; sadly I can't say the same for LS.

A Warm Coffee

the city is a pretty good size, but if it was the city alone it would not cut it. the city is far big enough to enjoy. with desert and hillside, it makes it very comfortable, not like you are gonna have to turn around at all.

The way I see it, if they would have added 2 or 3 more small towns out in the countryside the map would have been perfect. The towns wouldn't have required a larger map necessarily, just better use of some of the open space. Maybe an accessible island or two with a small town or settlement would have done wonders but I'm not upset with how it turned out. As I've said in other threads, the map size was absolutely vital to GTA Online being functional and practical (once the server issues are sorted of course haha).

I don't feel as if the actual city was that big. But then I was spoiled by the True Crime series. The first, True Crime: Streets of LA had a fairly accurate map of LA. It was absolutely huge. As in, 240 square miles huge. Admittedly, there weren't any interiors, but this was on PS2 and Xbox hardware. True Crime New York City was again, an accurate depiction of Manhattan and was 24 square miles, with loads of interiors (albeit copy+pasted) on PS2 and Xbox hardware.

I really don't see anything wrong with the size of LS. It's comparable to GTA IV's LC which itself is a decent size.

Overall I'd say the GTA V map is near perfect.

I have no issue with map size, just that 99% of buildings are facades you cannot interact with. So much more potential there. Same with people, pretty much most are just there for you to shoot, beat up, or run over. Would be better if you could buy residential properties and relocate your charactters, fix up your crib, develop wives or GF's for Trevor or Franklin. A bit more of The Sims kind of thing.

Would be nice if they had a mall again like Vice City that would go a long way. VC actually had a lot of interiors, most in GTA history probably. Im sure thats where Grand Theft Auto 6 is headed btw in next gen.

Its big and there is a lot of detail to stop and look at. I wonder how many people actually just walk down the street reading signs and flyers and generally just seeing the details. Too many are just in a hurry to plow through missions and be done with it. I'll play for a couple hours and do nothing but drive around and check stuff out.

My only size complaint is when I'm flying a jet. By the time you get to a decent altitude, you have to land at the airfield. For that sake, I'd prefer a bigger town far up north or some islands off to the side.
