What is JP used for?

I noticed you earn JP when playing missions, I assume they're the job points I've read about but I don't have a clue what they do, and they don't seem to save either.

Job points. They reset every session so I don't know their actual function as of now.

If anything they are a way to find out who in the current session has been focusing on doing missions. See someone with a high JP probably means they are hard at work getting stuff done and may be more apt to accept an invite for teaming on missions

I think I read on an in game note/info panel that they are used to determine the winner of playlists or something like that.

So I assume its just used if someone sets up a playlist of missions or something and after they've all be completed, the person with the most is the winner, and maybe gets a higher cash reward. Maybe.
