strange connection issue

Hey all,

 

My roommate and I are having a strange problem... We have 2 xboxes on a shared internet connection. We can play in a game together, or with other people, but not both. Whenever he tries to join a group I'm in, he fails to join, whenever I join a group he's in, everyone else gets booted. Neither of us has problems joining a public room.

 

Any suggestions?
