Buford T Justice
Why can't my car push other cars what so ever? With exceptions to a few massive vehicles such as the digger, quarry dump truck, and tank I am unable to push cars with another car. If I'm in a 6,600 pound 4wd Patriot and I slowly come up behind a car stopped at a stop light and try to push it out of my way the only thing that will happen is my Patriot will sit there doing a 4 wheel burnout and the 3,200 pound car I'm trying to push wont budge an inch! My car has 4wd, more power/torque, and waaaaaay more weight pressing each wheel onto the pavement yet I'm unable to push a far lesser vehicle out of my way, I have to backup and go around them... This is really god damn annoying, especially in cop chases when a cop car is somehow able to box in my Semi truck or Patriot. Now I'm not saying I should be able to plow hords of cars out of my way with some stupid car like a Futo but my Patriot should have no problem pushing/driving over a cop car that is trying to box me in. This issue really takes away a lot from SUVs, trucks, and other large vehicles. I would always take SUVs or Trucks in other GTAs because they could take more hits, could move things out of there way, and were good off road. But with everything being good off road and able to take a ton of hits in GTA 5 the only reason to choose an SUV would be there power, but now that has been taken from them. Now they are just giant slow cars. In previous GTAs I would love driving the Patriot around because it was so large and strong that you could plow traffic jams out of your way (or just drive over them), climb over guard rails and just about anything ells, and it took a lot to bring it to its knees. Now to plow things out of your way you have to be hauling ass, and its not really pushing them out of your way, its just ramming them to the side. Semi trucks have the same issue, has a car gone sidways infront of you? Well f*ck you, back up and go around it. (even though you have like 1500 ft/lb of torque) I was really looking forward to pulling up behind some car at a railroad crossing and pushing him onto the tracks with my SUV, or taking a tractor-trailer and slowly plowing my way through a traffic jam on the interstate but I guess that is now to extreme. Has anyone else noticed/cared about this or do most feel cars should remain immovable objects unless hauling ass? Here are some random examples the car poses no problem what so ever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bgz5cyHbx5E That semi easily shoves and stacks those cars, and even another truck! fish61324
Are you stupid? Obviously the driver has their foot on the break ahead of you. I tested this and the animation looks exactly like the car ahead has the break applied
Jackie Boy
You need momentum and friction to push something out of the way, no matter how bad-ass your ride is. Take one of those things away and you're not going anywhere. A heavy enough car with a powerful enough engine (not your happy family SUV) will be able to move a car of lesser out of the way without much of a run-up but otherwise it's going to take some considerable force to make another vehicle weighing several tonnes budge. Common sense, mate. Use it.
Fizzlepop531
Breaks or not, A truck should be able to move a minicooper. Also, When you get into an accident, you hit a car at 60mph. both cars will get thrown. Not just stop like brick walls. jefflcarr
*Brake(s) A big truck/suv should be able to push a car out of the way, even if they're on their brakes.

I was able to push his car for 3 blocks. His car was in park.

I tested this and the animation looks exactly like the car ahead has the break applied You are the remedial one. Do you think my 4wd SUV gives a f*ck if you have the breaks on? You are proving my point here kid...It shouldn't matter if the car has it's brakes on. A large truck based SUV (even large crossovers for that matter) has more power, torque, and grip than a car they are trying to push. Whether you have the brakes on or not in your taxi cab shouldn't stop my Patriot from pushing it, hell, put it in reverse if you want, an SUV would still move you with ease. Let alone a 18 wheeler. How do you have so little knowledge of how this should work? Even after my lengthy explination and video evidence you were flummoxed, and called me stupid. Yikes... You need momentum and friction to push something out of the way, no matter how bad-ass your ride is. Take one of those things away and you're not going anywhere. Common sense, mate. Use it. ....I'm just going to disregard that first sentence as it is really missing the point here. Actually this whole coment is like a book report on a book that was never read. Get your momentum out of here, I'm not saying I can't budge a car when I hit it at 349857 mph, just read what I wrote before you try to correct me on it. I clearly stated (in the first paragraph even) that I'm in a truck of some sort and I'm trying to push a car. I'm not in a golf cart trying to push a bulldozer. I understand how this whole process should work. A Patriot has more than enough power, (torque is what you actually need, you could have 40hp and 1000 foot pounds of torque and push just about any car on the road) grip, and weight to move a family sedan with ease. Yes a "happy family SUV" has enough power to do this... Here, this video should really drive the point I'm getting at home. As you can see the H2 (Patriot in GTA) is pulling that pickup truck against it's will. (Moving that pickup truck would be a hell of a lot harder to move than a car as the truck has more weight, power, and grip). The pickup truck is trying its hardest to drive in the opposit direction of the H2 but the H2 has more power, grip, and weight so it wins. If it can pull that pickup where it wants it's easilly going to be able to do the same to a car! Why the hell can't a SUV push a compact car through a red light in this game?!? It's real obnoxious,we've been able to do it in every prior GTA but this one just leaves it out. Don't tell me to use common sense after a reply like you just made, it makes you look bad. Dale Nixon
The Patriot was the best vehicle in GTA IV because it was just so great ramming every car on the road with it. GTA V? no.
Winston Smith
I agree with the OP to a degree. It seems like rammed cars should move maybe slightly more.
Buford T Justice
I agree with the OP to a degree. It seems like rammed cars should move maybe slightly more. For sure, If that semi is able to push a box truck sideways and stack those other 2 cars on top of eachother and then push that whole load out of his way from a dead stop, and the H2 is able to pull that pickup backwards as it's trying to drive forward. It shouldn't be too much to ask for to give some power back to the SUV/trucks in GTA. The Patriot was the best vehicle in GTA IV because it was just so great ramming every car on the road with it. GTA V? no. Absolutly, It has been awesome in every GTA. Beastly off road, an absolute tank on road, fast enough to get the job done, and large enough to drive over guard rails or anything else in the way. It still has all those qualities in GTA V as well, but all other cars also have those abilities too. Why pick a SUV/truck when a Tornado or any other random car can do all the same things, and have a higher top end? Without the ability to shove cars out of the way/climb over them big SUV/trucks are pretty useless. Buford T Justice
Plowing sh*t with large vehicles half the fun of GTA games. Every other game on earth lets you run from the cops and rampage in fast cars but very few let you do it in semi trucks and huge SUVs. That has always been what keeps this game alive after I finish the missions...pure distruction

AlexL
True, this is extremely annoying as I can hardly get thru a police roadblock with a f*cking 18 wheeler. Swifty101
Only Franklin can do that since his special ability unlocks the full power of every vehicle for land travel. But be advised. The realistic instant explosion effect will nuke all semi's in the game. Only a fully armored Patriot like mine can survive more likely explosions near it since I had a car explode and all it did was bust a hole in my fuel tank of my patriot. As for cop cars. Franklin's ability can seriously delapidate them. Even the guards .50 M82's can't stop mine. So best SUV for war raging against Ballas for the pride of GSF like me. Take a patriot. And armor and beef up and turbo charge the 6.600 Duramax before ramming vehicles into the train. Because only then can you have real fun in the game like I do. Lethal Vaccine
Yeah GTA V is by far the lamest game for pushing vehicles. In III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS, IV, TLaD, TBoGT had no problems pushing cars. V you basically are NOT running into a car, you are running into a brick wall...Your car won't even move the other car a couple inches. Even if you use a Fire Truck or something you can run into problems at times. The most fun though is if you have H/DP vehicles like in LCS which are a greater mass than even the Tank and Fire Truck combined and since it's DP (Damageproof) your vehicle won't even get a scratch or ever start to smoke or catch fire from collisions......Man, do I miss the PS2 Classics...HD Era is weak on many levels, this is just one thing that surely changed for the worse...
