How to pause the game?

I know it sounds silly but how can i pause it?
Everytime i push start the other Players kann kill me.

 

But i know ist possible because ive seen a Person with pause over his head and he was like untouchable...

You can't pause a live online game...

Tell me what multiplayer game you know that can pause the game so people can't kill you

Would be funny though if all other players would get a message "game paused, waiting for player 12 to return to game".

You leave the session or get your char somewhere a car can't hit them & enable passive mode.

 

You'll get kicked if you're idle for 15-20 minutes though.

I've only seen a player paused over their head during a mission where we were on the same team.

either enable passive mode or regroup in your garage or apartment until you are ready to come back out... or get booted for idling too long.

That brings me memories from another game... in Serious Sam: The Second Encounter (a game from 2002 or such) there was a setting to do that, lol.

I charged my PS3 controller giving me some kind of menu with a full size map and stats and other sh*t.

Just tell people you're AFK and turn and face a wall. I'm sure no one will kill you. We did it all the time back in the late 90's and early 00's. Worked a treat.

it says PAUSE when u hit start (ps3) and get to the map or menu. but is not really in pause so.. you can't .. best thing to do is to start new mission from the phone, in this mod other players can't see u . i don't know if u get booted for idle in that section. another thing is going inside stores where u can't have a weapon or inside ls-customs
