GTA:O Pros & Cons

Pros:

 

  • Difficulty of the game increases with character level -
  • Experience is easy to come by the first 15+ levels, as Races, Activities, and Side Missions count towards your RP
  • You encounter many of the main stories protagonists
  • Guns are level restricted so kids wont be running around with RPG's like GTA IV
  • Bounties
  • As you progress you get exclusive things, so it's a motivational tool to encourage players to actually do the missions instead of just stealing from stores and griefing other players
  • Garages

Cons

  • Everyone and their mother is a professional griefer
  • Passive mode isn't worth anything, you can still die. I spent the last 10 minutes being ran over by a kid in a truck
  • Alot of the beginning missions are repetitive, but this con counteracts itself because it's sort of a " what do you expect " kind of thing. The plot of the multiplayer in itself is to start from the bottom and make your way up to this big crime lord.
  • Auto Aim = Aimbot
  • If you do a mission in the country, you will spawn all the way in the country and you have to drive all the way back to the city.
  • You can't skip cab rides so they're basically a waste of money
  • TDM can be unfair if you have a higher level team mate
  • Missions are restricted by level so if you're a high level you can only play with team mates of that level and above
  • Other players kill you while you're focusing on a mission
  • Hospital bills are too expensive and are applied to most deaths
  • Free Roam recticles are slow and sporadic

 

Please don't get the amount of Cons overpowering Pros confused that I dislike the game. I really enjoy it and I think as we progress through the weeks / months they will add alot of enjoyable content -

Hospital bills in free roam - pro (penalty to having free roam just a full on killfest)

Hospital bills in missions, survival, deathmatch, etc - extreme con

The Auto Aim issue is fixable, change it in your settings on SP. The cab ride is a bad con to put up imo for the reason that skipping a cab ride moves time forward X amount of time, depending on how far you travel. Can't affect time just for you and not everyone else playing with in the game. But you're right, it is a waste of money to pay for a cab, just gotta drive, it's not that bad

I would like to add Hospital bills to the Cons

 

this is the worst one!

 

I have played an escort type mission with 2 team, it was a Police carnage, died 6 times... -5000$!... i lost half of my cash for doing a mission.

 

You also have ZERO reward if you lose.. that suck.

The Auto Aim issue is fixable, change it in your settings on SP. The cab ride is a bad con to put up imo for the reason that skipping a cab ride moves time forward X amount of time, depending on how far you travel. Can't affect time just for you and not everyone else playing with in the game. But you're right, it is a waste of money to pay for a cab, just gotta drive, it's not that bad

I mean if other players have Lock On they just have to press L1 and they snap right onto you - Free Aim is absolutely atrocious honestly, they did better aiming function in Max Payne 3

I think the hospital bills are a blessing and a curse. On one hand I think they suppress griefing in free roam by adding a real consequence for death. On the other hand they make certain game modes unnecessarily punitive; to the point where I believe players will begin avoiding them altogether as they become hip to whats draining their bank accounts.

 

One work around is to dump your cash in stocks, as the hospital cannot touch your portfolio.

I think the hospital bills are a blessing and a curse. On one hand I think they suppress griefing in free roam by adding a real consequence for death. On the other hand they make certain game modes unnecessarily punitive; to the point where I believe players will begin avoiding them altogether as they become hip to whats draining their bank accounts.

I agree, but it's like you become so afraid to die, you hide everywhere, in passive mode - haha

Good post and the game is just a baby. More threads/posts like this and I'm sure the feedback will get to R*. With the game ever evolving, I expect to see the cons become less and less with each patch.

 

I agree with most except for the getting back to town part. That to me makes the game feel open and traveling has always been a large part of GTA and MMOs for that matter.

I also don't totally agree with auto aim as stats help your aim improve and when you start to get good at avoiding getting hit ie. using cover frequently and being careful, it makes things realistic. I don't like games where it takes a year and a day to kill someone.
