  1. 1. Are you happy with being able to see other players on the map or would you prefer a more "hardcore" experience whereby you have to physically identify another player?

    • YES, happy with the current system

would prefer to see only friends and crew on map, and players who got bounty on their head

Born_Homicidal

its so easy to just follow people all day due to being able to see their blips, I think they need to go when people, sneak, stand still, move slowly etc.. and be seen when in LOS, or shot a loud gun (unsilenced) driving, running, etc..

f*ck paying every time you want to be anonymous.

How can you call 16 people on that huge map busy?

Well it is a big map dude, but its also concentrated. Most of the shops are located in the city so I really don't think it will be a problem coming across another player. Have you ever played Day-z? The map is about 20 times bigger and even with 20 people on a server you still come across players in the city

They remove the blips without allowing more people on at the same time will kill free roam you will spend more time looking for people than you would fighting, might as well get rid if free roam and just have death match lobby's

Me and a buddy used to play dayz, we'd go on 6 hour runs on a sever with 30-40 people and only see 1 or 2 people.

Question is, why should you be actively looking for other people in the first place? We're supposed to be living a Los Santos life, not be 16 players in a massive-map death match.

Free roam should allow player killing and also allow methods to meet up with others to cooperate or fight, but it should not encourage constant killing through the always visible system IMO.

Nah this is a complete lie because Day Z is a PvP game. Not a zombie killing game like it looks like. So either you are lieing or you joined the worst Day Z server ever, or you guys just sat in a corner all day.

I think it needs to be like RDR kind of. The had the hardcore mode where if you sprint, shoot or blah blah you show up on the radar. It needs to be similar, only when you do certain things should we be showing up on the radar.

I also like the idea of they show up as a larger transparent circle indicating they are in that area, and when you get closer the circle is removed and you must then find the player. I don't think we need to be able to be completely hidden but we should have some way to defend ourselves against players who are packing in cars hunting small groups or individual players. Plus the PvP game will be a much more satisfying experience when you get someone in free roam, you guys spent some time sneaking around and firing shots at each other and advancing positions before someone went down.

Yep, I like ideas like this DymeDef. (Larger transparent circle when close to others, blips appearing only at certain times (fast driving, warrant level etc))

But I doubt R* will make dramatic changes to free-roam now. They've already set their stall and this was their decision.

Another idea would be to have white blips showing by default. A player killing another turns to a red blip for a time (which increases with each kill.) And players automatically become invisible if they "behave" (would need to be defined by the game. i.e. not kill for a period of time.) Just throwing out other ideas.

  • 2 weeks later...

Why can't they just give you the options like in gta4. Blips set to all, near, far or none! This is only thing I hate about gta online.

Blips within line of sight or a certain distance, im ok. Make sneaking, stealth, and supressors useful. I Dont have many gripes about GTA and usually dont take sides in these things...but im going to agree here.. All players should not innately have ESP and know where everyone else is all of the time.

Im thinking in my head about how to handle the lester "Go anonymous" thing. Could be that you gain a point if you kill too much where you attract so much attention you are constantly on watch, thus reverted back to the old system if youve caused too much ruckus. Then youd be forced to lay low, OR call lester. Similar to bounty system. Much better option IMHO. Doubt rockstar will do this though, but id be happy to see it.

They did make some significant changes to RDR through its lifecycle, so we an hope.

Also, would LOVE to have a "local" voice chat like RDR instead of all over the server ALL the time. Just doesnt make sense otherwise.
