Starting to wonder if it's just me. I create a character, then after entering and confirming the name, I have to wait (which takes ages by the way), then it goes to the satellite view of LS you get when switching characters, and says in the bottom right "Joining GTA Online...", after another wait (which again takes ages), it just says "Alert, session timed out" and I get put back in singleplayer.

I've never gotten any further then this. Is there anyone else who still has this problem or am I just f*cked?

I either get the session timed out message, or I'll get to the race marker and it'll get stuck on waiting for other players.

I need something to hold my attention until PS4 launch. I might buy the game again if it launches on PS4, but I would wait for the price to come down to about $20.

Right here. Uninstalled the update, redownloaded & reinstalled. Tried solo, tried friends only, tried joining via character wheel. Tried wired & wireless internet. Tried on 360 & PS3. I have had zero success unless you count Lamar telling me where to go while not being able to do any jobs and save.

Remember how many kids cried about Armor Lock being too strong. It's changed now. Red Dead had connection issues. Battlefield 3 had one of the worst launches in gaming history thanks to EA. But none of you seem to remember that. A new game comes out and your dry-erase board of a brain wipes clean and you go acting like a fool.

Surprised you guys still cant connect, there servers go down from time to time, but I have had lots of good sessions so far.

 

try uninstalling the patch and restarting.

I can get in just not past the first race. The one time i got past the first race my character got deleted.

However, Dan Houser stated that they aren’t currently working on a potential port of “GTA 5” to the PS4, mentioning that developing three versions of the same video game could end up being “phenomenally depressing.”

 

Though he says currently they are not in development, so perhaps in the future.

i haven't tried since last night but it just sat on the blurry screen. i was tired so i don't remember how long i let it sit. i'll try it again tonight but all in all, i haven't gotten anywhere with it. on the plus side, my created character hasn't been deleted!

I have been having a 50/50 success rate. Once I get on, I might be able to stay on for a few hours, or a few minutes.

 

Considering this is day three, I'm starting to get fairly annoyed.

[EDIT] The article is based on http://www.psu.com/a021029/No-plans-for-GTA-V-on-PS4-says-Rockstar , which says GTA 6, not 5. Basically, he didn`t say no, nor yet. It was just the regular mumbo-jumbo that everyone spits: "Yeah, well, we can`t confirm or deny the fact that we are confirming or denying a fact that might exist or not, generally speaking, without confirming or denying anything".

 

I`m happy, though, because I have no plans on buying a PS4, so the GTA 5 "community" will sit nice and in full numbers on my good ole PS3 :p
