how the f*ck do i invite someone to private? (PS3)

I didn't say on the phone ! It's not on the phone.

 

I said "start" that means PRESS the START BUTTON to open the START MENU.
Then go in Friends, press X to open "Options", then Invite to game.

You have to enter a private game first. Go into the start menu and then go to the online tab, from there you should find an option to play GTA Online and in there you should see an option to start a friends only game or an invite only game. Then follow the instruction given by FR_Player-One above.
